Help Weird reception issue

Akusho

Lurker
Hello!
Outside I have 4 bars, if I try to load the phone somehow, it can drop to 3 while I'm surfing, which is OK by me, but in buildings it can drop drastically, to 0-2. At home I compared it to my friend's Galaxy W, and when i had 2-3, my friend's was stable 3(same network). When I started using WiFi and internet, it dropped to 1-2, while nothing happened on the W. I tried flashing to a more recent rom, tried flashing the LF2 modem, nothing helped. And the worst part is, when I was at the store it had perfect 4 bars (guess the glass wall helped)... so I don't know what to do.
Is this an issue, or should I forget about that(maybe the icon is updating faster than other phones), because it will be a bit difficult to explain to the tecs in the store.

I find that my reception in my house is worst than when I had my epic. Sometimes my text don't go through, and I didn't have that problem with my epic.

Well it's good to know there are other people with similar experience. However, it's still difficult to determine whether this is a hardware flaw and I should go get mine replace, or this is a design flaw/software flaw. We need more replies :)

I thought about it and, with my epic I had 4g but with the s3 I don't. I'm wondering if that's what it is.

You really can not compare one device to another, they will have different RF qualities. Most cell phones I have had had more bars when sitting on a table or just removed from the holster than when my hands are wrapped around the device and using it.

My house had poor signal until I bought a AT&T MicroCell and now it is full bars all the time.

The most important question for me is: can this be a hardware fault (maybe something with RF isolation or other) and I should return the device, or this is probably OK and I shouldn't worry?
I've seen faulty phones that had bad signal all the time, but this one is fine outside, so I don't know anymore :D
