if you want good battery stick with the stock..

nightly is a bug fix over previous versions, cm7.2 RC3 is the latest release.

you can try this rom, it is based on cm7.2 RC3
[ROM] CM7.2-RC3-APOCALYPSE [17.06.12] [FireKernel OC] - xda-developers

i am using CM7.2 nightly release and it is pretty fast and good with all features working. Tried with galaxyics.com rom (ICS Style) but camera ot working. waiting for the patch..

A nightly is a rom still under debugging stage, the developers keep on fixing known bugs and release the rom for further testing by the users(us), then they fix more things and repeat this until all bugs are fixed and the rom works properly, that is when they call it a stable version.
But in our case, they somehow released an unstable rom with a 'stable' tag, then they fixed some things and released another nightly.

If you want to stick with official releases, always download the latest release, whether its stable or nightly. I heard that the latest nightly is quite good in performance and battery life, you can go for it.

But if you wanna go for unofficial versions, try the roms based on vo-1's 31st May build, like the one suggested by Mackinon above, even i am using that rom:D

there is a final version of APOCALYPSE available over at XDA

from what i read, the nightlies are not stable GA. Still buggy. i tried the latest one and my touch screen was not working correctly. Had to install 7.2 stable. it works well, but the battery status isnt very accurate. it falls quickly, at times and when its at 10% i have over two hours left. :-\

I am about to try apocalypse. i just need to sort out backing up/restoring since i have spent so much time getting CM7.2 the way i like it.
