Returning my HOX

DesireMe

Android Expert
It's not even 3 weeks old and the screen flex/distortion thing is bugging me. The creaking screen too (http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x-xl/570379-phone-screen-creaking.html) which is intermittent.

I contacted T-Mobile today (having never called them once in 2 years with the Desire) and mentioned the phone was faulty. They would only offer a repair, not a replace. I said it was only a few weeks old, but their cut-off is 7 days!

So the shop is 10 miles away and would take 14-28 days. So i thought fk-it. Called HTC, who were very helpful, understanding etc. A courier is coming tomorrow to collect it and either a repair or replace will be done in 7 days. Hassle-free! Fair play to them for that.

If it's replaced. I think i will be selling it.

- The speaker volume on sat nav is far too quiet :(, and i love that feature and I don't have an independent Sat Nav. I will keep my MIUI Desire, because apart from a nice (and super-fast!) camera and screen, the HOX is not giving me anything more/new, just losing features IMO.

thats a shame that you might be selling it :-(
what you thinking of getting instread??

7 days seems rediculous from t mobile to replace it though,

Wish i'd contacted HTC instead of going through carphone warehouse now though as they seem alot quicker and more efficient!!

Huh, I don't get it. If they replace it it, and it solves your issues with it your still gunna sell it?

Do you not think that the Desire feels too small now, having had the One X for a little while? Whenever I pick mine up it feels like a toy!

Would anyone know how long you have got before you can return your phone if your not happy?
Had my phone for 3 months now and the battery issue is becoming very frustrating.

It's carrier dependant I think. I know with Orange, I've 30 days (unless bought in store), same for T-Mobile I think.

If battery life is a massive issue, they might offer you a replacement as opposed to a different phone.

Cheers. Not trying to let it get to me. Buit having to pick and choose what I can and can not do on the phone just defeats the object of having a "smartphone". Hanging onto the hope that this1.30 update will fix the battery issue is not good. No one can say for sure that it will cure it. I love the phone but I want to be able to charge it and use it without having to see if it might run flat.

Yes I know I could start messing with the settings. But why should I?

I'm planning to just keep the Desire. It does everything i need. I wanted a shiny new phone, but it didn't deliver for me.

But will the speaker volume still be so low? I use Navigation quite a lot and it was a neat feature on the phone. The Desire is much louder.

Yeah, at first it was like a toy, way too small. Been nearly a week now and i've adjusted back to it. OK, the back button needs a couple of presses every now and again and the camera is nowhere near as good, but the

Also on the plus side - you don't need to change your name, and you can give Hadron some company back in the Desire section!

Shouldnt be 7 trading standard says you have 30 days after purchase for the company to return/replace your phone.

I did swap my HOX at the ATT store a couple of days after I had recieved one via FedEx. I had the same issue with the volume. It wasn't just NAV though it was across the board. I brought it to the store and compared it with the one on display, much louder at Max volume. They swapped it out for me on the spot. Interestingly enough I ended up going from an h26 to an h25 in the trade.

I'll still keep it connected to the car sound system for being on the road but now I have no fears of simply missing a call or not hearing an alarm.

The phone dropped back through the door today. The problem with the screen is still there, in fact it's worse.

Next step?

Go to T-Mobile shop to show problems and request a refund/replacement?

I didn't receive an email and there's no documentation inside. It was just in a box that says "I'm back". It is definitely worse than before, or worse than i remember.

It got posted through the door and i heard the "volume up/down" noise, thought, yep, that's my phone back. It was on. Weird.

See what T-Mobile say tomorrow. Way i see it:

1) Refund
