Any keyboard app that is free and reliable?

Even with small hands, I make a lot of mistakes with the touch keyboard. Maybe I'm not used to it yet (only had the phone for 4 days) but is there a FREE app for a better keyboard?

I think there is literally an app called "Better Keyboard" but I've never looked at it. Give "Swype" a try too

ive been trying to find swype for two days. i've got the leaked 2.1 for eris, fyi. seaerching 'swype' in the market doesn't come with anything. i saw something on another forum and used that link, but it force closes a lot. where can swype be obtained?

thanks in advance

There was a legit beta available for Swype but the demand was so great they closed it a few days later. SlideIT is another popular option (similar to Swype) but it is not free (about $8.00). There is also Shapewriter, also similar to Swype and I believe it is free.

I haven't tried Swype or similar... but highly recommend trying ThickButtons. It's incredibly smart at predicting what word you're typing and enlarges those buttons it expects you might hit next. After wasting a lot of time with the backspace key, ThickButtons has saved me a lot of trouble. I was frustrated for weeks until I found it.

I'm running swype beta on my 2.1 eris and it works flawlessly. Dreading the day it expires. I would imagine that the swypers would be quick to replace it with a new at least for the people who participated legitimately in the beta test?

anyways use the link above!

I use swype (the same as the one linked in this thread) on my nexus one, and it works great in portrait view but when ever I turn the phone to landscape it just comes up with a message saying it does not match the screen size of my device. Very annoying because it does it when I'm not even trying to type, ie, just when web browsing..

Smart Keyboard Pro.

Supports multi-touch in 2.0+, keys are spaced better, is more accurate than standard keyboard and hardly ever lags. Prediction has been improved in the last update too.

I've used SlideIt, Swype, BetterKeyboard and found the default to be better than all of them, except Smart Keyboard Pro which rocks my socks. :D

I've bought it on your recommendation, don't let me down ;)

It looks good so far....

Not trying to steal the thread, but anyone know any good keyboards that support arrow keys on the qwerty letters side?
