Potential iPhone convert w/question bluetooth text msg.

Posted on another forum but received virturally no replies:

Hello All. My first post here although I've been lurking for a few days. I am currently a (longtime) iPhone user and am finally serisouly considering making the switch to Android for a number of reasons (that I won't go into at this point).

I am killing myself trying to decide between the HTC One X and the SG3! I keep going back and forth, sure I made my decision, only to change my mind! Driving me crazy!

Anyway, my question is about "driving mode". I picked up a Nokia Lumia 900 for fun a few weeks back (anyone want to buy a well priced perfect condition Lumia 900? :p) and, when I used via bluetooth, I got a great surprise. My wife messaged me and the Lumia announed her text over the system, asked me if I wanted to hear it (I said yes), then let me reply and read my reply back to me before asking if I wanted to send...All without ever taking my hands off the wheel or looking away from the road. Awesome.

I've been googling and researching and have yet to find a definitive answer as to whether the SG3 can do this as well.

Can anyone confirm or comment?

Thanks much and I'm looking forward to learning a ton more about android and eventually rooting!

While I can't give you a definitive answer, I can tell you there are many options available. If the phone doesn't have it built in, you can try an app like Vlingo or some such.

It is possible to search the Android Market (now called Google Play) from a browser. That way you could find potential solutions and then look for reviews.

Thanks for the reply. Someone told me Vlingo currently doesn't work on the SIII. I've also checked out the market and found that some of the descriptions aren't completely specific as to the functions the app provides. I also found one app that does what I want but you have to manually activated it before you drive and then de-activate it (presumably to preserve battery).

I'll keep looking though...
