Am I a palm swiping failure?

I have tried countless times to take a screenshot by using the palm swiping gimmick all the reviews make such a big deal about. I was able to do it successfully on the demo phone in the Sprint store, but I cannot seem to do it with my own.

I know I can alternatively take screenshots by pressing Home + Power, but that is beside the point. I should be able to swipe my palm as well.

Has anyone else tried this and had no luck? I know it takes a little practice, but how much effort should it actually take?

I'll ask just because I've seen a bunch of people do it already. You are making contact with the screen with the side of your palm correct? I know it sounds stupid but a bunch of people have tried swiping their hands over the phone not touching the screen with the thought that some sensor would pick up the motion...

Also, under settings->motion, make sure motion that "palm swipe to capture" is turned on at the bottom of the page.

Such a gimmick. Just press home and lock button and it does the same thing and no smudge on the screen.

That's not what the OP asked.

OP, be sure that you are using the side of your palm (touching the screen) and not your hold hand to swipe the screen.

When I read about it, I was using my whole hand and was trying to figure out why it didn't work. I read the Galaxy S3 manual and that explained it better. I have a pdf copy on my phone so I always have it for reference.

Well mine worked well yesterday. Today I tried several times and it would not work...yes I was also doing it correctly.

I went into settings, turned it off, turned it back on, and voila...works again. Try the same and see if this helps.

Thanks, my friends! I didn't realize my hand had to be literally on the screen. I thought it motioned sensed from a few millimeters above, doing something similar to Smart Stay. Now it works!

Great, glad it's working for you now!

Fezzle last week I was having the same problem. It did seem really cool in the video on youtube, it does work, but for the most part moves the screen over. I did go back to just home and power button lol

On top of that, I can't get the home button /lock combination to work. Only option that works for me is the palm swipe.
You have to press them both at the same time and hold them for a second. If you press either button before the other one you'll end up locking the screen or opening the task manager.
