Radio Interface Resource Shortage FIX

I've only had the Text/ signal interference issue a couple times, and not in the last week or so at all (knock on wood), but twice today I've had to restart my phone in order to place calls. I had a "no service" notification prior to the 2nd time before I restarted it. Today is the 1st time I've seen this happen.

Hope these issues get sorted out soon, I really like this phone... even with the issues.

I get this problem all of the time and it was especially bad today. I bought the Optimus at launch and had all of the data problems so really starting to feel like a guinea pig here with VM. Luckily the problem was solved on the Optimus so I have hope.

Other people have also said that the Wildfire S got an update from HTC as well. It's just sad they have to release phones with software bugs on many of their phones initially for a while. My money is on T-Mo prepaid w/ the Nexus next that's for sure. I had the same 3G problems when I bought my Optimus V last year, but I got the one with the Hitachi screen, slightly newer. It had the 50% time without signal bug too on the stock ROM. Ridiculous stuff.

Yeah I used to have a wildfire and we did get a sense update in March. I'm hoping that, even though Virgin Mobile generally doesn't mess with updates, that they'll roll out a jelly bean update for the EVO and a fix for the signal issues. Honestly, this phone is far too popular for them not to. Imagine how many MORE people, in addition to the tons that already have it, will buy this phone if it becomes the first Virgin Mobile, and first prepaid, phone to have Jelly Bean.

I find that extremely, extremely unlikely considering this phone used to have Gingerbread and Sprint hasn't even pushed ICS to the 3D yet, but we may get an experimental CM10 or AOSP ROM for this phone, that's a possibility. I mean consider that the Triumph and OV are still on Froyo...blech

Although I really hope they would update to 4.1, I wouldn't hold my breath. :D

They need to fix this sh#t like YESTERDAY!!! I've had the radio/sms errors almost every 30 mins today! It's hella annoying

dont know what difference it makes if any but they updated the prl today(61009).i havent had any problems today but i hardly used my evo.

Just shot an email to saveme@thevirginangels.com concerning this issue and also requested a few free months, because this problem is just ridiculous. Supposedly they tend to give in to those kinds of requests at times, and that is a legitimate VM email for tech support, and they do respond. I know because I've contacted them before and VM on twitter just told me to contact them. At this point I'm still bombarding the sprint executive tech support with phone calls and twitter and facebook and now email, so i'm doing the best i can. HTC wasn't much use.

UPDATE: Progress. I got a call back from some kind of upper level technical support team, who actually told me the same fix as I posted in the OP. When I said that didn't work, they told me they would be contacting the Sprint Software Team about this error and they would include the information that I gave them, which is info that sums up basically what everyone has been saying in this thread. Let's hope this only helps expedite the process a bit more, but at least I'm getting somewhere.

Thanks Metal571. I called their support and they reprovisioned me tonight. Didn't take long before error message came back. All I had to do was turn on wifi then turn to 3G. Reprovision doesn't work.

Yeah, reprovisioning your services does nothing. The guy on the most recent call I just had told me that Sprint's solution to this problem is the one I posted here in my OP. When I told them that it clearly didn't work and the problem came back after a few hours, that's when things got forwarded to the actual Sprint Software Team, and I'm happy about that. I'll continue to use this thread to post about my personal progress. You should email saveme@thevirginangels.com as well as calling their Executive Resolution Team at 877-291-5717 to keep this ball rolling. The more people that complain like I do, the faster a patch is going to come out for this.

Thanks for the info. I just updated my profile and PRL to 61009. Will report back the results.

Thanks I missed this. Updating now. Everyone please try updating your PRL to 61009 and see if you get the error code still.

UPDATE: Nope, I still got the error after a few minutes.

I have not been getting errors at all but signal fluctuates quite a bit, most of the time I have 1 to 2 signal bars, where as I used to get 5 to 6 bars. Would this benefit me to do this even though I am not getting the errors? Also, I am rooted with a custom rom installed, do I have to go back to stock rom to do this, or can I do this on the custom rom?? Thanks for your feed back.

No go here. Actually, when they reprovisioned me earlier today, phone was reactivated and prl updated. I was able to produce the text message as well.

Agree will email and call. Totally agree that more call and complain, the better. One man army is not going to get their attention.

You can update PRL and Profile on custom ROMs. I'm running Harmonia myself and it works on here, and I've also done it on ZR3DX as well, and it worked there too. You can even do my OP "fix" if you want with clearing the EPST data on custom ROMs. That worked for me too. Some give you an option to update the firmware. Don't do this, just hit cancel if your ROM tries to do this.

I'm going to put those numbers in the OP so more people start complaining at a higher level than standard CS.

When i type ##clear# it tried to open EPST, then error pops up saying cant open or its closing. Whats that all about? lol

Yeah sometimes that happens and you have to force close EPST manually from Apps, or restart the phone. Then it should work. I've had that issue on some ROMs.

i used my evo all day today and didnt have any problems.i never had the fluctuating signal problems most have just the phone going to 120dbm out of the blue.i always have a strong signal at home but i also have 4 near by towers and 2 of them are less then 4 blocks away.i spent most of the day on my pc so every couple minutes i would check the dbm on my phone since i use it to tether and it stayed right around 64dbm with a low of 59dbm and a high of 73dbm.i also for the first time had 4g the whole time but it did get really slow at times but at least it never dropped.the closest clear tower is 3 blocks away so im hoping they just had problems since saturday and they are fixed now.

im starting to think the problems i had were all tower related.now with how frustrated i was on monday i ordered a nexus and now i have to decide if im going to cancel that order or return the evo.

haha the nexus is a lot better of a device. at this point i'd almost urge you to switch from VM. i wish that was an option for me right now. what carrier were you thinking of going to?

Im still with t mobile on the $30 a month plan.i switched from vm to t mobile when they started that plan in november of last year.i just got sick of always being throttled so i thought i would see how 4g is on the evo since its unlimited at least for now.

i probably will return the evo and get the nexus.its just a harder decision now since the phone is working so much better for me now.i will say one thing though my signal strength is a lot better on sprint(vm) then t mobile.
