Anyone coming over from the original Droid Incredible?

Lots of great things about the S3, but there are things I'm missing about the Inc, too. I really liked the Calendar on the Inc and even though the phone was slow (very slow at times), the photos were better than the S3 photos. Anyone else have the Inc previously? What are you missing from the Inc on the S3?

In the same way I forgot my past girlfriends and stopped looking at other women when I met my wife, the GS3 got me over my great Incredible and made me stop looking at other phones. Nope, I don't miss it a bit, and I held that thing in high regard too. I didn't use my upgrade for months because nothing was better. But I found my phone.

I loved my incredible. I miss the fact that it was rooted running CM7. So far so good with the S3.

I loved my Incredible. Haven't played enough with the camera to comment but that was one reason why I didn't settle for the Galaxy Nexus. It better be at LEAST as good as my old camera.

I never ever see anybody commenting on the optical trackpad. I liked that thing for small cursor adjustments and I'm sure I'll miss it. Still getting used to TouchWiz after a few years on Sense so not fair to comment but nothing negative stands out right away.

Definitely missing the trackpad for minute editing. It's just hard to press precisely with larger fingers and the trackpad made it easy.

Other than that I don't really miss anything else. So far I think the pictures are better on the S3. I did like the agenda calendar widget on Sense the best, but the TouchWiz widgets are good too.

I loved my incredible and also was waiting a few months to use my upgrade. Loving the s3 but I really miss the HTC keyboard. Hated the Samsung one, tried swiftkey, and just found the smart keyboard which is most like the HTC one.

The Dinc was capable of taking a good pi, but the Sammy's camera is much better and the photo editor available from Samsung is really good.

The Dinc had the trackpad but the SG3s home key I like better.

Try the Jelly Bean keyboard. Its much better than stock. You can easily move around the pointer with your finger and auto correct works better than stock and better than the dinc's stock keyboard as well.

Excellent point about the trackpad! That thing was awesome. Definitely miss that.

For the keyboard, nothing beats Swype, IMO.

I loved my Incredible too, but dropped it like a hot potato when I took my S3 out of the box. I do miss the trackpad though, and don't like the power key on the side.

I do have to fight the urge to hate having to learn anything new - learning new stuff and a new way of doing things is what's keeping me young (well, youngish anyway).

I like the home key in place of the trackpad, which can also be used to power on the device.

former inc user.

dang 4G is fast. O_O

dont know how the inc pix could be better than the s3... but i guess thats subjective.

dont like the power button on the side of the s3. its right where my fingers are, so i've turned the phone off many times by accident.

the optical trackpad was nice, but i like the little cursor thing better on ics.

i like the browser options better. you could select "bookmarks" from the option menu. in ics you have to scroll to the top, which can suck if you're reading a long webpage. (unless i'm missing something)

i miss the HTC flashlight app. the assistive light is nice, but why does it have to take up a 1x2 space on the page?

still getting used to swiping rather than scrolling through the apps.

while i'm a huge inc fan, the flatness of the s3 offsets the increased height and width. i can barely tell its in my pocket.

launch day inc to launch day s3 (preordered both)

after having my s3 for a week now and finally getting all the pics and mp3s out of my dinc this wed, i forgot how small it was and couldnt help but to think it felt like a toy, lol

even though its like going from windows 98 to windows 7 and having to go thru the learning curve, the only thing i really miss is the time widget from the htc sense(liked the eye candy when it stormed or snowed).. i really hate the pic on the touchwiz one and miss the alarm clock function

I too came from the OG incredible (Amoled pre-order) and I too didnt upgrade for the same reason. I would have held out actually for the new nexus or really what I wanted to wait for was a phone with quad core krait... however, the incredible had started to have tons of issues. I miss some HTC widgets and sense... (loved the weather/time app with the alarm right there). the S3 is taking some getting used to, but I am happy with it- still trying to port the photos into my contacts, some are clear and some are blurry, definitely not as easy as the HTC was. definitely miss that.

Ditto.

Just swapped my Incredible for the S3 last night.
-I will miss the trackpad (it was so nice to be able to target tiny links or edit text precisely).
-I also miss being able to tap on the clock/weather widget and be able to open alarms or weather depending on where I press. On the S3 it always opens weather (unless I'm missing something).
-Have to get used to power button on the side vs the top.
-Completely agree about the flashlight (why does the widget need 2 spaces on the S3??)

I'm sure I will forget about all of these things eventually. I am really loving the phone. Looking at the Incredible now is so strange. It's so tiny and simple looking... kind of like comparing an iPhone to the huge, beautiful S3 screen. I had a great 2 years, Incredible, but I'm ready to move on.

My first smartphone was an AMOLED DROID Incredible, ordered just days after its release. I rooted it after a year and put CM7 on it three weeks after that.

I was eligible for an upgrade in January but I didn't use it, instead opting to purchase off ebay an LG Spectrum. Then Verizon changed their plans and I preordered the SGSIII. I only had the Spectrum for four and a half months. Samsung Upgrade offered me $200 for my it, so I shipped it off (prepaid label attached) and am waiting for the check to come in the mail.

I still keep my DInc around for the kids to play with in the house. I also use it for geocaching, since its GPS works fine; all I have to do is save geocaches for the area that I'll be going into. The kids love taking the lead on this, and I let them knowing that my primary phone is no longer at risk. Yeah, the phone seems so small now, but I rarely use it. And the kids are happy.

I use mine for geocaching too, and hate the thought of pulling out my new S3 on the trail without a tether. Will actually have to break down and get a case for it so I can attach it to my wrist. Only had a pouch for the Inc and much prefer using the phone without a case.

Things I miss from the DINC:

1. Flashlight app. The widget on the GS3 takes up too much real estate.
2. Clock/Weather widget (you get nice animation, clickable to get either alarm or weather)
3. Scrollable wallpaper
4. [Full] Root (kernel and all) :D

Things I'm trying to get used to:
1. Power button
2. Home button (not very fond of it at the moment but will give it a fair shake; I prefer capacitive)
3. Non-scrollable wallpaper

Things I'm finding a work-around to:
1. Wifi toggle
2. Flashlight

Using the Switch Pro widget, I can add a Wifi and flash light toggle (and a host of other items you want on the widget panel).

Pre-ordered day 1 on the original Incredible, and then did the same for the SIII. ;)

I was actually pretty satisfied with the Incredible, and probably would have held out to see what's coming out in the future if Verizon hadn't changed their policy on unlimited data plans and forced my hand.

That being said, the SIII seems to be a much better phone judging by the week I've had it. I have nothing to really complain about, and so far I'm really happy with the device.

Guys, download the Flashlight app from Intellectual Flame Co. It's very similar to the one on the INC.

I'm slowly getting used to the new hardware configuration of the S3, not quite used to the power button on the side. I do miss the trackpad, but since it stopped working on my Incredible, I was getting weaned off of it.

i miss the optical trackpad big time for correcting typos! Other than that the GS3 is excalty what i've been waiting for.

DINC was a great phone but it was a struggle the last few weeks before the GS3 showed up.
