Phone lights up for no reason while on idle/standby

Simply put, what happens is that when I leave my phone idle, it would suddenly light up for no reason. It's similar to when the phone lights up when a text message comes in. But the difference is that there's nothing happening on the phone it just lights up for no reason. It does this intermittently.

I've posted in another forum but no one seems to be experiencing the same issue. Somebody suggested that this maybe due to an app I may have downloaded. So I deleted some apps but it keeps happening and very intermittently at that.

Anyone know what maybe causing this?

I'm having the same issue. Its some sort of notification but not sure for what because it will go away after the notification window is opened to check. Unable to figure it out. I may just shut off the LED notifications although I do like the feature (just not when I'm getting notified for nothing)
 
Not the same phone I know, but both mine and the wife's Droid Incredible's do that as well.

They'll light up for about 20 seconds then go back to sleep. Never worked it out...

I just put it down to attention seeking.... "Ooh! Use Me, Use Me!"
 
I know when it gets to 100 percent charge the display will turn on. I assume this is to tell you that it's charged and you need to unplug it. The only thing that I have experience and I don't like is that when you plug the phone into a power source or remove the phone from a power source it turns on the display.
 
Try to isolate the problem. Trying different settings and thinking of anything you have changed.

If fail, factory reset the phone.

If fail, take the phone in to get it looked at.
 
I figured mine out. Its related to yahoo mail. I shut off all notifications for it but it was still doing it...so I uninstalled the app and it hasn't happened since.
 
Had this problem. It's almost surely a rogue app. It was very hard for me to figure out. I got alogcat and saved the system log from around the time it occurred. That narrowed it down to a bunch of programs that I then uninstalled 1 by 1.

Turned out, in the app, foldersync, I had changed the setting for Use Full Wakelock from the default of No to Yes. Then, every time it checked to see if it should start and upload, the screen would come on.

My Verizon S3 does the same thing... it drives me crazy!!! I have my yahoo sync as well maybe it's that, i'll have to check out but my phone also lights up while I'm on it (while using a wired headset) but there's never anything in the notification bar.
 
Unfortunately, even when the phone is 100% powered off and unplugged, the screen lights up. The only thing that will stop it from glowing all wierd like is to wake it up or to pull the battery... Any suggestions???
