Metropcs tethering ps3 issue

I know metro is blocking tethering so you have to change the user agent of your browser to get it to work. When i tether to my ps3, some things work and some dont. Like netflix works, ps3 system updates work, and playing games online work but thats it. The browser wont load, game updates wont download (most important problem). Im guessing this is happening for the same reason as having to change the user agent for the browser. Problem is really i need the game software updates to work so i can play the games online if a game has an update its required to download it before you can play online and most my games have updates and they wont download. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Hey I been having the same problems as well. I was able to update my ps3 but I couldn't download updates or download anything from the store :(

It's an app in the play store that sets up a vpn on your phone.. And actually thinking about it the free version allows you to DL 100 megs a day.. May be enough to get the updates through at least..

Hmmm i have to check that out. That would allow me to download My updates right?

Honestly I haven't tried it, but I know it goes through a vpn so metro doesn't know what is passing through the data stream.. was just throwing it out there as something to try..

I downloaded and tried Droidvpn I couldn't even make it past the username and password page. Lol I, even had the tun.ko installed :/

Sorry.. know ya have to create an account with them.. I saw the post over on the esteem forums.. if I get some time I'll check it out

Wait so can u still hook up ur tethering to ur ps3 for metro
 
Does anyone know if I can set up a vpn connection to ps3 without SIM card or data. I haven't had data on this Samsung galaxy light for a very long time now and it's carrier is metro pcs.

Can you explain a little bit more? Are you trying to connect your Samsung Galaxy Light through WiFi? Without a SIM card, you can't get data so that is your only option. Now, once you connect it to WiFi, are you trying to use it as an access point and vpn host so you can tether to your PS3 to bypass regional restrictions? If so, I would think it would be more efficient if you were to use an actual AP or other specific hardware instead of turning the Galaxy Light into one.

I believe that if the phone is using the WiFi to get it's data, it can't turn around and also give out the WiFi signal for another device to pick up. In order to tether, the device tethering has to have data over 3G/4G. Basically, the WiFi chip can't receive and give out at the same time. One or the other, but not at the same time. I believe. I could be way wrong though.
