Help Newbie with questions....

Hi everyone!

I have recently upgraded to the GS3 having previously used the original Galaxy S for 2 years. Overall I am pleased with it but I have a couple of questions. I have searched through all of the threads here and can't seem to find the answers. Any help gratefully received but please try not to use too much technical terminology - whilst I am not daft I sometimes don't understand what people are saying :o.

1: I have somehow managed to change the settings when searching the play store (don't ask me how because I don't know!). I can enter text in the search box at the top but to the right it has an 'X' and when this is pressed it changes to the microphone and I have to speak what I am searching for. I'd rather not! I have tried every way I can think of to change it back to text entry search but to no avail.

2. Text message notification sound. I don't know if this is a fault with my phone or a settings error/change. It seems to have chosen it's own sound! I cannot change it to any other sound. It doesn't matter which sound I choose it always 'plays' the same tibetan bell chime. I don't have a problem with tibetan bell chimes but I'd quite like to choose my own.

After entering what you want to search for, go to the lower right hand side of the phone and push on the magnifying glass.

For Text message notification push your "messaging icon" then "settings" then "select ringtone".
 
No one's an idiot, Razzle. Everyone's learning this great device together and sharing what we know with others.

And that's what makes this place great :)
 
Aww bless ya Chief. But when the answer is so straightforward and staring you in the face you do feel like an idiot! I guess it's one of those times when the more you look at something the more you don't see it.

I'm sure I shall be back with yet more stupid questions once I've used the phone more.
