You're theory is great troll, except for one incrediblely large sized hole. And that is, that Verizon HAS to announce this phone at some point. And they cant avoid being compared to the Evo, the iPhone or any other phone, so the longer they wait the worse they look for releasing a phone with "no new features".

It's not trolling when you use sense and logic and aren't tied to something emotionally as you are. I'm happy with my Droid and would probably pick up an Incredible if it came out but you guys who are so upset that they're not announcing it today need to relax, because they will anounce it at some point. Also they don't look worse for not announcing a phone that 99% of people don't even know about. Now go and get your f***ing shinebox.

You guys are stretching here, and sound defensive. I'm not saying that the Incredible should not be released and that VZW shouldn't hype the heck out of it, but explain to me in non fanboy terms what this phone has to offer over the EVO aside from the VZW network and possibly more memory?
That's why VZW will wait to release it so they don't have to directly compete against the EVO with the media at CTIA.

Are you kidding me? You're accusing us of being fanboys? You have 10 posts to your name and you're already starting problems in here? You may end up disappearing about as fast as you appeared if you keep it up.

They have to compete with them no matter where they announce. here is why.. Tech sites will be doing the reviews and they will be the ones pushing weather this thing stacks up to the EVO. That is the measuring stick. Think it won't happen check this out.

HTC HD2 launches on T-Mobile USA as Sprint EVO points, laughs

By Thomas Ricker posted Mar 24th 2010 at 6:24AM

What a rough ride it's been for the US launch of the HD2. Now available on T-Mobile several months after making its European debut, it arrives less than 24 hours after the 4G Sprint EVO was announced for a summer release, and a week after we received confirmation that it won't be upgradeable to Windows Phone 7 OS when devices start landing later in the year. So $199.99 plus a 2 year commitment for this Windows Mobile 6.5 device is just crazy talk. Our advice: wait a few months and snap up the glorious hardware for pennies and then install your favorite cooked ROM.

We can't! We don't have any official specs, which is why we need VZW to announce...

There is sense and logic to both of your individual sides.

everyone needs to stop thinking they are going to announce something today, they are not. If you keep thinking something will be announced you'll keep being disappointed -- over and over again.

I feel like one day the phone will just pop up at Verizon stores with not a heck of a lot of marketing geared towards it.

If we use common sense (rather than wishful thinking) - we'd know something by now if there was something to know!

Personally, if my Verizon had a box from HTC, i'd go there and convince them to open the damn box to find out what's in it! Offer the guy $50 bucks to do it...he will!

I feel like the Incredible will be nothing more than the Eris replacement in a few months.

Yeah, cause 50 bucks will make up for getting fired from a job and probably blacklist from working in any other electronics stores. Yeah, that seems fair!

Hi guys, not trying to be a downer or a troll, but there is little reason for VZW to announce the Incredible today. The Supersonic was announced yesterday and has been annointed "king" of the Android phones by the press, even though we don't know about battery life and any bugs that it might have. This was the first "4G" phone and it looks to be very nice. Average Joe consumer (people who aren't refreshing this site every 2 minutes) don't even know or care about the Incredible. All they know is that Sprint will be introducing a fast smartphone with a big screen and a bunch of other features. If VZW announces the Incredible today, every blog will do a direct comparison to the Evo and the Incredible will come up short due to the screen and the 4G network. It doesn't matter that the specs of the Incredible might be better in some aspects (AMOLED, more memory) all the general public will care about is the large screen and the faster network (even though Sprint's coverage is lacking when compared to VZW). VZW doesn't want to be in a situation where suddenly they've introduced a phone with really no new features as it will be seen as more of the same even though we know better.

Reasonable, but I'm going to disagree with you on a major point. The Incredible can upstage the EVO completely by offering one thing that it currently lacks: Availability. A phone that's available inside of 2 weeks is exponentially better than a phone that's 3-4 months away.

In this market Sprint can say "look at my shiny toy that you can't have for months down the road, and oh by the way our network sucks." Whereas Verizon can say "Hey check this thing out, same company, great memory and storage, our network doesn't suck...and oh yeah, you can come get it tomorrow!"

The black and white to me is that the Incredible has passed through the FCC and could be out anytime...the Evo is still pre-production.

I feel the HD2 resembles the EVO more than the Incredible will. Even in some of the specs.

I think the Incredible should be compared more to the N1, desire, etc. Know what I mean?

The HD2 and EVO look more alike (brothers almost) and the desire/N1/Incredible will resemble one another more.

Why do they have to have some HUGE release? The Motorola Devour is coming out today to, what I suspect, is little fanfare. At least it got a super bowl commercial. What if Verizon simply adds the Incredible to their line up like they will the Devour?

this.

it might get a commercial ... but, i'm sorta feeling that the thing will just show up in the next couple months without much fanfare.

How, the hell am I starting problems by giving a logical reason why VZW won't introduce the phone today?!?!?! I think the phone looks great and would probably like to get it, but just becuase I think the EVO looks great too, I'm causing problems. Jesus, lighten up!

Sprint did what they always do. Show up first to the dinner table. They need to, it's one way they are trying to save their *hitty company. Once the other networks get to LTE and release comparable devices, if not devices with higher specs. Sprint will end up where they always do... Near the bottom.

Well I don't think It'd be too far fetched to consider it the Android HD2....with 4g that is. ;)

People. Why would they scrap the Incredible at the 11th hour just because the Supersonic landed? Sure it garnered a lot of (well deserved) attention yesterday.

Put yourself in VZW's shoes. "Sprint got the EVO, which looks better than our new Incredible, so let's scrap it. Instead of going head-to-head with Sprint with the Incredible, we'll just keep doing it with... the Droid???" Think about it. The ONLY way Incredible gets canned is if it has MAJOR MAJOR problems. Not because it's just a little south of the competition's specs.

The ONLY thing this could affect is the timing of the release, and I doubt it will affect that much, to be honest. We never had a firm announcement date anyway, so it's pure speculation that they shifted their plans because of the SS/EVO. Breathe deeply.

Yeah, I agree with that, but have you known Verizon to be able to be this flexible and smart? I sure haven't. I bet the Incredible will be released early May -- as our trusted sources have been reporting -- that is too long of a wait AND too close to the EVO release to be viable.

We have to look at it from two perspectives, HTC's and Verizon's.

For HTC, they want maximum publicity for each phone they release. Would it be better to bring them out all at once in one giant media frenzy? Or would it be better to reveal them one at a time, giving each an entire day to bask in the warm glow of geek drool?

For Verizon, you have to decide which is worse. They had to have known the potential of the Supersonic. So, is it worse to release a really cool phone (Incredible) only to have another really cool phone (SS) come along and, to some people, trump it? Or is it worse to show up with the Incredible after the SS and say, "Oh yeah? Check this out!" in hopes that people realize the Incredible is just as good, if not better.

Either way, HTC probably wins, but I'm no businessman. But you have to wonder what VZW's game plan is here. All I know is, if the Incredible isn't revealed at CTIA, they'd better have something big up their sleeves for when the time actually does come, otherwise it might be like a sparkler on July 5th and everyone's too hungover to notice.

As you were.

I can understand why the Incredible wasn't announced. They may actually be better off with a quiet release now because who wants to be compared to the Evo? But if they don't release it very soon...then it's just going to be another mid range Android phone probably set at a high price point. Even the Galaxy S is speced better than the Incredible for the most part.

Trust me, I'm about as easy going as it gets, but insinuating that we are fanboys is not a very good way to make friends. You're the new guy, keep that in mind. Try to be considerate of others. A lot of us have been following THIS phone since October or earlier. We are on Verizon and we want the Incredible. There is another sub-forum for the EVO. If you like it so much, go over there and enjoy yourself. This is the HTC Incredible forum. Also, my name's not Jesus.

I don't think they scrapped it because of the EVO -- I think they scrapped it because there was major major problems with it.

Look, the Incredible will not be scrapped and if you think it will you should probably go get checked out.

Verizon employs almost 223,000 people, they knew the Evo was coming. This board is full of intelligent people, but you can't believe that we're the only people that have heard of the "Supersonic." This is not new news to Verizon and if it made them second guess the Incredible it would have been scrapped a long long time ago.

Okay, BIG DISCLAIMER:

Take this post for what its worth. I debated for several days abut posting this since the information came from my local (direct) VZW store manager, and we all pretty much know that the store employees/CSR's are the last to know anything about new phones.

Since we are now talking again about what VZW employees are saying, I decided to post this.

With the above in mind, I decided to call a the manager of my local VZW store on Sunday and ask if I could leave my information, and have them contact me when the HTC ADR6300 comes in and is available for sale. I have known this manager for several years; she has hooked me up more than once with VERY early upgrades, and has readily shared info that she has about anything VZW. She remembered me right away, but told me that she isn't familiar with the ADR6300, and asked if I know what it is going to be called, and approximately when it will be released. I told her that the code name for the phone appears to be Incredible, and rumors have the release anywhere from the 27th of March through early May.

To my surprise, and with a little excitement, she said "Oh, I know that phone! That's the new, high-spec android phone, right? I would expect it to be called something else." Then she told me that she would be happy to call me when the phone is available, and said "So, I'll calendar a follow-up call with you in about 3 weeks."

Then, we had a brief conversation about some of the specs. I thanked her for agreeing to get back to me, and she made a point of saying again that we would be taking in about 3 weeks.

I definitely think she thinks she knows something, and that she was trying to let me in on it. Whether she actually knows anything, or is speculating based on rumors floating around the VZW water cooler is anybody's guess.

VZW could have been waiting to see how Sprint was going to attack them. Now VZW can come up with some clever (and most likely funny) marketing to throw back at Sprint. I would bet VZW has something to say about the Sprint network if the Incredible is announced today.

This isn't an Evo release, it's an announcement.

Verizon needs to get the Incredible out ASAP to lock people in to 2 year contracts so when they realize the Evo is out they say "well shit".
