Game controller

I saw the youtube video of the guy from New Zealand attaching a PS3 controller to the S3 (unrooted) and it worked perfectly. I bought the cable he referred to, but mine doesn't seem to work. I think it's because the controller picked up the PS3 and turned it on. Has anyone tried this? Do you have to un-sync the controller from the PS? If so how does one go about this? Does anyone know if the PS3 controller can be used as external controller for non PS games? I love to play some of my child hood games like tecmo bowl when board on a flight or killing time, but the on screen controller SUCKS because it just doesn't read the motions right. Not a S3 issue just a touch screen issue IMO because my DX behaved the same, and I've seen a DINC do it too. Any help/suggestions appreciated!

I bought the Juiced Systems 4 in 1 connection kit and hooked an xbox usb controller to it. It did not work natively (xbox controller that is) until i purchased the USB/BT JoyCenter app. After that I was playing with no problem.

Can you use the controller for any game roms or only 360? Also, according to the video the PS3 is natively controlled.

I saw the video but I do not have a ps3 to test. All I can say is the xbox 360 controller hooked to the SG3 can control all the games for/on the SG3 I have. Most recent game "Dead Trigger" works well.

I just plugged the controller into the phone with the USB OTG adapter attached to the PS3 controller's mini usb cable then pressed the PS button on the middle of the controller. Stuff on your home screen will be highlighted when you move the stick around. I think the PS button acts as an "enter" button. I haven't used it on any actual games, so I don't know what it works with. Don't really plan on getting any of those newfangled games anyway. ;)

What adapter did you use?

i cant get the ps3 controller to work on an unrooted us version s3 with verizon.

im using the recommended usb otg cable over a wired ps3 controller. no luck. someone needs to figure this out.

pushing the ps3 button doesnt help either.

ive even tried downloading those apps with no luck.

Not sure what to tell you. I know you've been fighting this for a while and mentioned it in other threads. This is the OTG adapter I bought. The seller I bought from doesn't seem to be there anymore though.

I have an unrooted vzw s3. It just works doing what I've mentioned before. I didn't download any special apps or anything. Plug the controller in your phone before touching any buttons. Press any regular button, then press the PS button. Go to your emulator settings and map the ps3 buttons to the buttons you want. Can't comment on non-emulators since I don't play them.

Some "non-emulators" will need the "Six axis" app from Play. However thats once you get the controller working.

The third time I tried this last night it worked like the youtube video I saw. DON'T turn the PS controller on until it's plugged in to the phone. Then it will begin to scroll around for you. The one issue I'm still having is with the JOHN NES LITE emulator. The buttons on the controller will map in the settings, but do not function in Tecmo Bowl. I haven't tried any other games yet.

Thanks. I got it to work. HOORAY!!

It seems the ps3 was overriding the controllers ability to connect with my galaxy s3. What i did was i unplugged the power cord to my ps3 so there were no connectivity issues.

Here are the steps that worked for me.

-unplug ps3 from power supply
-plug a turned off ps3 controller into the usb otg and then into the phone.
-power up the controller
-press the ps3 button in the middle to sync with galaxy s3
-map keys to your liking based on game/emulator your playing.

Six axis pairs to the PS3 controller and once done you never have to do it again. Need to be rooted for six axis to work though.

Love playing all NES, SNES. NINTENDO 64 and games like NOVA, Dead Trigger, Shadow gun and GTAIII. Ssixaxis is an awesome app to configure the controller too and save different button setups for different games.
