Ok. I had ALOT of apps on my phone prior to the latest update. I'm not going to reinstall them all. I did run into the following issue while reinstalling my apps.

#1 : I went into the market AFTER the update and saw no apps in "My Downloads". I exited the Market and re-entered and then they were all there. BUT... I guess I took too long and after re-installing about 10 apps, the market seemed to refresh or something and then all I saw was the 10 apps I had just re-installed. All the other apps were gone from "My Downloads". I had a feeling this might happen so I had taken some precautions.... see below.

#2 : I had been using AppBrain and had the "My Apps" page loaded on my computer PRIOR to doing the update. I didn't touch this page until later... I installed the AppBrain app on my phone and did a sync. From the phone, all AppBrain saw now was the 10 apps on my phone. I went back to the page on my computer (DO NOT REFRESH THE PAGE!) and figured that if I refreshed, then this page would only show 10 apps as well (I DIDN'T TEST THIS UNTIL LATER!), so what I did is Selected ALL apps on that page and ADDED them to a NEW list. I called it "Apps prior to Update". This list now shows ALL the apps I had PRIOR. As suspected, after a refresh, "My apps" match what is on the phone... but I now can go to the new list and install whichever apps I choose.

So... to protect your apps, I would suggest doing a sync BEFORE you install the update. Then select ALL apps and add them to a NEW list. Verify AppBrain has both lists. Then update without worry.

I don't know if I didn't something wrong and lost my market apps or what, but I know this method saved my App list.

You might not have the same issue, but if you do, this method saves some time.

Really? I had not heard of that happening to anyone on 1.5 or 1.6. It always worked for me on 1.5 and I never had a problem until I loaded 2.1.

From what I've read about this issue, it is experienced by all Android phones that were activated/authenticated after a certain date in January. Mine worked on 1.5 but was broken when I moved to 2.1 Leak. Tested on a Moto Droid with a friend and his GMail app shows the pictures. He activated in December sometime.

This is why it seems that Google is taking a long time to deliver a solution. It isn't affecting everyone yet and therefore Google isn't really convinced there is a problem... Or at least they haven't communicated on the post that they've accepted it and working on a solution.

sometimes my phone wont mount to my work pc. i just hit the HTC sync button, then it tries to find the program on my pc which isn't there, then i can mount it. it's weird, but it works.

odd, right after i posted that, my phone asked if i wanted to mount. that was the first time mounting had worked for me since i got the first leaked 2.1. now im using this 2.1 and it's working well :D

Can anyone tell me if protected apps will show up with this new leaked version? I am missing some really good apps and games that I already paid for...

Thanks!

Man i am impressed with 2.1... i was going to wait to the official one but i had to see what all the crave was about....Hope the blurry Facebook pictures bug is fixe with official release

I lost my charger a while ago so i can't link my phone to my computer anymore..can i still get this update somehow through my phone??

Thanks to everyone for reposting the file. Of the four sites it was posted on... I tried all four, and only the last one worked for me.

Proudly running the new leak! (That doesn't sound too good...:D)

Thank you

does this fix the facebook snycing problem??? i didnt like how it automatically syncs everything like their numbers and emails in the previous 2.1

Well, I take the date back after going back and rereading trying to find the post I remember seeing. It is obvious that people were experiencing this back in November and December 09... But really, I do remember that it was a timing issue of activation/setup, not a OS version or phone hardware issue...

How is the phone calling with the newest leak. I know the dialer is supposed to be less laggy, but anyone confirm they had a lot of silent phone calls and reboots before and not having them now??

That is my biggest problem with my wifes Eris right now. Once a day or so, she has to power off the phone and restart to get sound on a phone call.

Does this leak fix it??

Went from first leak 2.1 to the new 2.1. I am noticing the phone is snappier. Calling is easier. My phone now vibrates when I get text messages. I like the new music widget. And I have yet to find a bug.
I am MUCH happier with the new 2.1.

edit: I have the posting/commenting problem with the facebook app. I didn't have that problem with the first 2.1 leak.

Hello everyone,

First post here and my question is this:

I used the file in this link provided by zxphenomanalxz (the Verizon employee who leaked this 2.1) and am looking at the boot screen after loading. What I see is kind of bugging me out.

Do you want to start update...ETC ETC (I'm paraphrasing)

So, I'm somewhat alarmed to see the date in this information and what appears to be at the top a reference to a different model phone (DESIREC XC)

Can anyone tell me if this is all legit? Thank you very much!

Yes it's all legit, and it looks to me like you were running 1.5 before the update, so enjoy 2.1!

but 1.5 was able to have pics in gmail, so why is it a prob with these ones? <<<o yea now I remember, theyre LEAKED roms... durr, my bad

They don't work on official 2.xx Roms either. It has to do with how the gmail app works with the 2.xx roms. It's an app problem, not a ROM problem.

Thanks xaustin, I'm updating now and will let everyone know what my observations are. Ive had my Eris for a few weeks now, and it is a little buggy anyway, so I took the plunge on 2.1

If it's going to do a couple of completely random buggy things, might as well be with 2.1!

Yeah, no kidding. I was pretty happy with the first 2.1 leak, but I installed the newest 2.1 leak because I was annoyed with the blurry facebook images. I'm really disappointed that is not yet fixed. I hope to hell its fixed in the OTA release and this one is not it.

what website do i go to to set up my google voice? is it grandcentral? i type in g voice in google and it driects me to some page saying info, and was this helpful? ....im at a losfer words sista..

When I want to sign in I just go to http://www.google.com/voice and sign in (usual gmail account info for me). Once you are in you can see if you have option for sms or not. The option for Call and Sms should be just under the Google Voice logo in the upper left corner.

I just tried to get the file from Megaupload (from post #32) and was met with a popup that hung Firefox. After I killed it my security software (Sophos) caught several viruses. One was pretending to be a Vista security window (the usual anti-virus virus).

What's up? I didn't have any tabs open aside from this thread and the download page.

Edit: There's a second thread going (hate that) which contains more info on the virus threat. I recommend you don't use Megaupload. Please pull the links.
