Help Is Tasker the right app for my problem?

Hi all,

I've been looking for a way to turn on driving mode when my phone connects to my car's Bluetooth and was hoping somebody can offer some insight. I haven't been able to find anything natively in my GS3, yet I've been reading about Tasker and I believe it can do what I want.

My issue is that it's quite expensive. I know it's justified, considering the amount of features it has, but seeing as my needs are basic I was wondering if there exists another app that was maybe less expensive or free?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks treb1797. Yeah, I saw that thread after I'd posted mine. Unfortunately, all that tells me is that Tasker isn't fully compatible with the S3. Is there anything similar I can use then? Should I wait for Tasker to be updated to work better with the S3?

Maybe this app called Llama will work for you (it's free):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kebab.Llama&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

It looks like a simplified, less featured tasker.

I'm new to Tasker, so don't take this as gospel, but I am still looking for a way to do this in Tasker. It has an action to put the phone in Car Mode that appears to work, but the problem is that car mode and driving mode are different things. Car mode prevents SMS messages from getting to you while its activated. I don't want that and it appears you don't either. You want it to read the texts aloud by activating driving mode. It probably can be done, though it probably involves some advanced Tasker programming, perhaps rooting. I gave up, basically.

Thanks for the link, davoid. It seems that Optimus Prune's right though. Llama has an option to enable Car Mode but not Driving Mode from what I can tell.

But at the very least I discovered a great app that'll let me change profiles automatically :)

Maybe I'll email the developer for Llama to see if there's something I overlooked or if it would be possible to include that in the next refresh.

Just an update for anyone that stumbles across this thread. I managed to get my car's Bluetooth to connect to my S3 using the Message Access Profile (MAP), which notifies you on screen of any incoming text messages and offers the option of reading the messages out loud.
