Left Metro

Is waiting necessarily the best idea with Metro? They've consistently let us down; time after time. They make promises that they, as a company, cannot keep. Not to mention the other flaws in their design: lousy speeds, horrendous coverage, and shoddy customer service.

Let's start a revolution.

I hear You I try both tmobile and sprint both we no luck and honestly metro has come a long way I'm happy with the service and most of all my wallet is happy too and in a couple of months I will be even happier :D

The prob here is there always been two types of cell phone users, the lite granny users that just use their phones for calls and txts and dont care about other features and the hard core users that want the latest the baddest the craziest mods/roms/apps to keep them addicted to their phone like if its a another part of their body lol, we see couples no longer talking but txting every 15 sec parents cant have a serious convo with their kids cuz they 2 buzy txting, husband and wives txt more than they talk..... what do we say to that BAHAHAHA oh well its the new era forget postcards and letters i dont even know how to lick a stamp anymore lol jk but seriously some people want to have the best but pay minimal in a prepaid network and to be honest sometimes its impossible. but if ur wants are more important than what u really need then go for it no one will hold u for it.

A+ n4zty right on I'm the search forums/websites search / music streaming kind of guy I will average about 3-4gb per month straight Talk don't want me lol but yes you are right metro happens to fit me perfect of course being in Florida metro is an excellent choice

T-Mobile. Four people. My mother and I got the S3, while my younger brother and my father got two free S2's. The internet speed is great

Good luck with that.. T-mobile are liar's when it comes to data they will cap you soon enough with a family plan... with family plan you all use the same data line with metro 60 for four people unlimited 4g = 240 - 40 = 200 a month with tax's metro is where its at...but on the bright side you got ics...trader..:D

I approve this message

Actually the data isn't split amongst us. I use 2GB and so does everyone else on my plan. Uncapped, until I use it up of course. I don't know where you got the idea it's split.

Also, isn't it $60 for LIMITED data now, after the price changes? I think it's $70 a month for unlimited, 4G (3G speeds); which, is $280/month for four people. So much for MetroPCS being 'cost effecient.'

Nope, still unlimited data at 2.5 GB of 4G speeds for $60. $70 is unlimited 4G speed. And technically, that'd be $260 for four people on the $70 plan don't forget the family discounts :) just wanted to throw that out there.

It's a little something that they forget to tell you... see it's like this... you get 4 lines it's all on the same line and that mean's same data line aswell so they stiff you in the long run they tell you something but they mean to tell you something else..give it time i ain't bashing you for using t-mobile just letting you know to watch out for them..

Let's hope you're wrong! Haha.

Actually, just checked my data usage and my father's. I've used 13.4mb/2GB. My dad's used 1.2mb/2GB. I know it differs and stems from different lines. All good.

Since I got the $60 unlimited account on my Esteem I bought last October I still have unlimited data on the $60 plan. Grandfathered in I suppose.

On Straight Talk the $45 SIM plan I'm on has unlimited talk/text. Ends up being about $47, after taxes.

Could you explain this "Straight talk plan" and what you did exactly a little more? Im intrigued :D

Like the ATT but roam free on Tmobile or vice versa. What exactly does that mean?

Back in Feb, Straight Talk started a new service called "Bring Your Own Phone" (BYOP), where ANY sim phone will get a sim to be on the Straight Talk AT&T & T-Mobile networks.

It's NOT the "regular" Straight Talk from Wal-mart with bargain bin phones. This new "division" even has its own URL: StraightTalkSIM.COM

If you bring an HSPA+ phone, you will get HSPA+ speeds on AT&T and/or T-Mobile. "Regular" Straight Talk uses all four major carriers and they sell phones at Wal-Mart tied to one of those carriers (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc.) This is NOT regular Straight Talk.

This BYOP sim plan is only for AT&T and T-Mobile network. When you sign up you choose which sim you want. ST "AT&T" or ST "T-mobile". If you are bringing an AT&T phone, best to sign up for the "AT&T" sim and vice versa. Because AT&T and T-Mobile use different frequencies for their HSPA+ signal. (Just like Verizon and Metro use different frequencies for their LTE.)

HOWEVER, if you sign up for AT&T sim and you come into an area that has no AT&T but has T-Mobile, you will "roam" for free on T-Mobile towers. But it's not really roaming, you just switch over to T-Mobile towers per ST's agreement with T-Mobile. If you are using a phone that gets AT&T HSPA+ and does not have the T-Mobile HSPA chipset, normally you would drop down to EDGE speeds.

But if you have a phone that has ALL the necessary chipsets (a pentaband phone), then when you "roam" on the other towers you will still get HSPA+ speeds. The GSM Galaxy Nexus IS such a phone. It's an "international" phone and can receive both AT&T and T-mobile HSPA+ signals.

I signed up, ordered the sim ($15 one-time fee). I ordered Galaxy Nexus from Google ($349 + tax and shipping). I put sim in phone. I activate account. I am happy. $45 + couple dollars in taxes per month. About $47 per month. Cheaper than Metro, I have very good speeds, I have a dual core, 4.65", 4.1 Jelly Bean phone.

Did the same for my wife. We both have Galaxy Nexus on Straight Talk, using the ST "AT&T" sim -- and can use T-Mobile towers with HSPA+ speed when necessary.

Unlimited talk and text -- and true nationwide coverage.

__________

Cons: not a con for me but for some. They claim unlimited data, too but after 2GB in many areas, but not all, they impose a 2GB data cap per month over the mobile network. After 2GB, they throttle you. Not 2GB total, just over the mobile network. They also don't like it if you use over 100MB per day. Others say they go to 5GB regularly, no big deal. Still, enough warn of the 2GB cap and being throttled that's it seems real. Some say it depends on the area you are in.

Anyway, doesn't matter to me. So far n 3 weeks I've used 1.4GB over wi-fi and only 500MB over mobile. All together I will use over 2GB this month, but all that counts is the "mobile" part.

___________

So, bring any phone you want -- just has to be a sim card phone. Great speeds if you have an HSPA+ capable phone, and only $45 per month.

If you pay for multiple months, they discount. 3 months, 6 months, even a year in advance gets you in to the low $40s. Also when you pay each month if you give a non-tax state zip code like Oregon, taxes are waived.

When I found out about this deal, especially being able to get the phone I wanted RIGHT NOW, I was intrigued. After a couple days researching and trying to figure out the "catch", I decided to go ahead and do it already! ;)
