I have a question about running firmware updates. I'm on 3 UK and yesterday morning I noticed that my phone had downloaded a firmware update OTA. So far I have put off installing it because I'm confused about how I'm supposed to do it.
The thing is I'm new to this Kies lark. The last time I had a Samsung phone there was no Kies. The issue is this: I've read on various articles on the web that Samsung phones have to have their firmware updated via Kies. I'm more than happy installing the update that (apparently) has been downloaded OTA - IF that will work.
Besides I've also read all sorts of nightmare stories about Kies failing to update phones. (My version of Kies cannot even update ITSELF, even though it constantly wants to do so, since the updater sticks at around 91% download and then hangs...
)
So my question is simple. Am I safe to run the OTA update?
By the way, does anyone of 3 UK know what this update is / does? FYI, my current version is as follows:
Baseband version: I9300NELE4
Kernel version: 3.0.15-554452-user
Build no: IMM76D.I9300XXALE8
Thanks all.
