Help Smart actions suck

I'm so tired of smart actions not working. I have one set so at midnight to 11 am as long as my phone is plugged in it will be in silent except for my priority callers. It will only work for a day or two but then if my phone is plugged in nothing will happen, I'll have to go in, disable, and then re enable the action in order to get it to work. Does anyone else have this problem? I am 4.0.4. I might just use Tasker if I could figure it out lol:thumbup:

I don't really have to much to add other than I attempted to set a smart action for keeping my phone on vibrate while at work (0730-1630). Next thing I know, my phone started ringing out loud for my next call during work hours....let's just say I quickly disabled that smart action...LoL

I don't see myself attempting to configure another smart action any time in the future!

Gotta love crap that doesn't work......

the actions arent so smart huh? :p
in all honesty i never used smart actions when i had my maxx for the week i did have it

I've had good luck with them so far. Here is what I have configured:
- Turn off data when connected to WiFi (probably not needed but I have a weak signal at home)
- Vibrate mode during meetings with more than just me
- Launch app when docked at night. (I have 2 car docks on my nightstand and want a clock at night)
- Disable sync when not charging after 11:30pm

I got the phone a few weeks ago and upgraded it to ICS before I did anything other than sign-in to my Google account if it makes any difference.

I've got three Smart Actions running that seem to be working so far.

1) Turns on WiFi when I get home
2) Turns on Bluetooth when I place the phone in the home media dock
3) Turns on Bluetooth when I place the phone in the car dock

So far they work without problems. One thing that I've done that might be why my Smart Actions are working is that I did a full factory reset and cleared my internal and SD card memory. Phone's been working like a champ ever since...

I started fresh on ics also. I also had the battery extender activated so of there was no movement it would disable background data. Well it got to the point where every time I turn my screen off it would activate it. It completely ignored the movement rule

did you return the settings to their prior condition? Several of the posts in this thread suggest that the Smart App probably did what it was originally intended to do, but after that the settings remained altered in a way that gave unexpected results.
Just a guess. HTH;)

I have 4 smart actions that use bluetooth connections as the trigger. 2 are for Bluetooth connections in my cars that 1) start GPS, 2) increase screen brightness, and 3) start the Car Home Ultra App. The other 2 are for Bluetooth connections to 1) Bluetooth stereo headphones and 2) Bluetooth external speaker which automatically launch the Play Music app. A 5th smart action I use every night has a trigger based on 3 items: time frame (10 PM to 5:00 AM), location (home wifi) and charging (wall adapter) with actions of 1) turn down ringer volume, 2) VIP caller mode, 3) Brightness to 0%, and 4) launch my alarm clock app (Gentle Alarm). All of these 5 smart actions have worked reliably for me.

I've never tried Tasker, but another app I've used that is great for setting automated actions based on time with settings for screen brightness, a variety of volume levels, vibrate, WiFi and Bluetooth toggling is called Timerrific. It's very easy to use and set up and save profiles.

Finally, I use another automation app called Y5 Battery Saver which can automatically toggle your phones WiFi on and off based on location services on your phone. So as soon as I get home, my WiFi turns on and when I leave my house, it automatically turns WiFi off.

Timerrific is great. I used it before I got SmartActions and loved it. I've actually been thinking about going back to it for certain functions that SA seems to be glitching on.
