when is sense 4.0 going to be updated?

I ran apex launcher just to see the difference in performance without sense and it is clear that sense is the bottleneck on the one x. The phone was lightening fast with apex launcher including zero lag with live wallpaper whilst switching homescreens.
The thing is, I have sense set up exactly how I want it and don't fancy wasting a month setting up apex too. I just want sense to perform and allow my phone to run the way it should. Any dates for an update?

Sense may benefit from the update to JB when it hits the One X - that is, if HTC get their act together and optimize Sense for JB.

In the meantime, setting up Apex shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes - and it's fun to do :-). I could replicate my whole Sense homescreen into Apex (I didn't have much use for the Sense widgets anyway).

Nobody outside HTC knows for sure.

There is a leaked update for ICS floating about on XDA. People who have tried it says that it gives a boost to performance, battery life and smoothness. It also gives the option to remap the recent apps button to 'menu' so the three dots bar is omitted from the screen.

This update was supposed to be imminent a few weeks ago, but never appeared. It's speculation, but it may have been pulled in favour of JB. If this is true, then it's a pity, as the update seemed awesome!

HTC (and others) apparently also received JB from google a few weeks before launch as well. This was to try and speed up updates.

Don't forget about the S3. I'm sure HTC would love the bragging rights of releasing JB before Samsung. This makes economic sense as well - helps in advertising to shift phones.

But it has got to be right - if buggy, then this could do real damage to reputation.

My complete guess is that it is not too far off. Say, end August. This isn't based on anything more than wishful thinking though :)

Yeah, I'm running it and the overall speed smoothness is much better but the homescreens still lag for me.

Hopefully with Project Butter that should improve/fix it though.

Fingers crossed.

I'm running this leaked update. It was released for asia.
They're changed 4.0.4 a lot. I get around 250MB free. No sense crashing even after playing games like GTA III. On 4.0.3 i would have sense crash after using chrome with 2 tabs.

Battery has improved. The menu revamp is build into sense so you can hold multitasking button for either menu or multi-task.

And i'll throw in my complete guess as well. We won't get jellybean till October. AT&T is going to take atleast 5-6 weeks to approve HTCs final version of JB.

Well, looks like I was wrong. The good folks over on xda are reporting that HTC Singapore have stated that the 4.0.4 update should be issued in the next 2 weeks.

I know it sounds a bit like 'a friend of a friend told me' but hey I'm an optimist :)

Don't think the update will be too far away, there's a camera mod out that's supposed to be from Sense 4.5 and I'm running Sense 4.1 now which fixes a lot of problems and locks the fps at 60 constantly so there's no stutter or lag on the homescreens, it's freaking awesome now! No lag or stutter even with a live wallpaper!

They've also added an Extended Quick Settings by default which is a nice touch.
