Fake Samsung Batteries

Hi,

I'm pretty sure those super cheap samsung batteries on ebay are fake. Has anyone used these and how were your results? I wanted to try them because I figured the real batteries come from places like China anyway, but wanted to make sure they didn't damage the phone in any way. Do they perform like the OEM batteries in terms of battery life?

Thanks

Unless they are labeled with Samsung or another brand name they are not fake. But are they as good as Samsung or as safe? Caveat emptor! Some people swear by them, others swear at them, I go with the real thing because to save a few dollars is not worth the risk.

I don't think that is true that just because they are labelled samsung that they are real. Don't the fake samsung s3 phones come with batteries that are labelled samsung? As for saving a few dollars, these batteries are $3 new shipped! So I am saving almost 10 times the actual price. As far as the safety side, you all don't see any harm besides the batteries not lasting long??? I don't care if they don't last long, but I do care if they damage the phone.

Its illegal to brand something as something else, but it happens all the time. Difference between fake and unofficial

You missed my point. If they are made by Samsung or authorized by Samsung and have a Samsung label they are not fake. If they are not made by Samsung and not authorized by Samsung, but contain the Samsung label they are fake. Look up the definition of fake.

If on the other hand I make a battery and call it ZippyElectron it is not fake. It may not be worth crap, but it's not a fake. It's a real ZippyElectron battery.

A $3 battery in a $500-600 phone? As I said before, I would not feel comfortable with it. If you need more capacity buy one of the reputable extended batteries being discussed in this forum.

I went with a third party battery from batteries + for my wife's Mytouch 3g slide. (now dead of dropping disease). One advantage of brick and mortar stores is you have someone to talk to if the battery dies or kills the phone.

Sorry, I guess I didn't understand what you meant when you wrote the first time. Anyhow, I doubt they were authorized by samsung as the imitation s3 phones were openly discussed as knock-off s3 phones. I was referring to those batteries, and wanted to see if anyone else used them and if they did were they ok. It shows that the ebay seller sold like 400+ of those batteries so I figure someone here must be using it.

I had a post with some suggested batteries from Amazon but one appeared to have like 50 fake reviews and the other one was cheap, was only 3 star, and didn't have NFC enabled (so you can't use Beam or Wallet or NFC Tags), so not worth purchasing I don't think.

It looks like all the real, NFC enabled, good batteries currently are just the Samsungs, which range in price from $30 - $50 per battery. Should tell you something I think. We'll probably need to wait on purchasing replacement batteries at a good price.

2100mAh Replacement Li-ion Battery For Samsung Galaxy S 3 III I9300 | eBay

$3 per battery? Real Samsung? I highly doubt it, these are probably awful and your phone will explode or something.

I tried a few different inexpensive batteries and chargers found on eBay for my Samsung Infuse. They worked for a short time. However, both the batteries and the chargers stopped working fairly quickly. After that experience, I've stuck with the Samsung batteries and chargers. My husband has one from eBay that has lasted a long time for him, though.

They might literally explode. I had a friend using fake batteries on his Nokia phone. He left his phone at car on a hot day. His battery and phone exploded in a small flame. They are not worth the risk, go with the original one.

This is like 6 years overdue but anyway -

I have a Galaxy Note 4 which is a back up since my S7 fell and broke. My mom was using this phone for about 2 years, and it lasted her the entire day. But when I got it, I think because the battery was overused it was reaching its breaking point, so I had it replaced with an 'original' fake battery from one of those Pakistani guys with cell phone shops.

So for about a month or so the battery worked perfectly until I noticed that it was only charging up to 72% and it would mean restarting the phone to get the number to match the actual percentage but then it would take 2 hours max to die.

Now it's been about 6 months and the phone only charges up to 42% and it takes 30 to just less than 60 mins to die.

So to conclude - just buy the original.
It's better than buying fakes upon fakes. And not only does it save time, but also stress and money.
