Root Get Biotic A Spectrum

admn81

Android Enthusiast
So I have recruited Biotic who is an experienced LG Dev to come to Spectrum Land and do some ROM work for us. Another member of our community has also been talking to him and asked me to organize this. His work can be found here:
Bionx - Android Forums

The other caveat of this is that I was contacted by NECKCHOP of our community who needs to sell a Spec and willing to do so for only $125 which is a way generous offer :)
So if you guys feel generous enough to help out that'd be cool.

Expect a reply from Biotic shortly, and you can ask him questions or give him suggestions of what ROM work you guys would like.

If ICS is released on time, il build a base off of stock as most people like roms that are garunteed to work?
If ics isnt released on time, il build based of off aokp or port a base over to the spec.

I currently do work on motorola devices so if anyone likes blur, i have the ability to port blur to a device.

*Note*
When i port the ui, i only do the launcher, not all bloatware with the licensed Ui.

Porting sense is difficult and will require a custom kernel.

I'm not a fan of blur (long time Moto user before my spec), but I welcome any new roms.

You may want to work with the existing devs.... This phone is a bear to dev compared to the motos. I had no problem with an aosp and cm7 on my d2, but this device won't boot either one. .. And a few of us with dev experience have tried.

Hey Biotic, just a suggestion, maybe u just wanna bring Bionix over instead? Maybe getting screenshots up would be helpful as well, as the ones in your thread are dead. By the way I pm'd you some ideas and will talk to you more.

Hey Spec. community can you guys also comment on what you WOULD like to see/suggestions as well as whatever it is you would prefer not to have? Thanks for all the input as it is helpful in guiding the dev's in the direction we would like :)

Man Admn, you are doing a great job recruiting

Welcome to the family Biotic

P.S. I personally wouldn't care to see Blur, I suffered through having the backflip before just recently jumping onto Verizon. I know it really wasn't a powerful phone, but when Blur was taking close to as much power as my display and I didn't really care for what it did, it didn't leave to good of an impression on me.

I'm all about an aosp or cm9. I like pure roms, so an aosp with no add on let's me get the raw experience. I cm9 is also cool, because it's proven and solid.

Welcome to the Spec community!!

Wife's still outta wk, sorry for the small donation, I'm commited to showing support no matter how small it may be.

My vote is for aosp.

Thx for you're hard work admn81!! :D:D

I can't ask people to donate and not donate myself....so donation sent even though I'm broke as shit. Lol when looking through different forums it seems especially the nexus or s3 the amount of roms they have is staggering. I realize those devices are infinitely number of times more popular than our spectrums but on a smaller scale that's what I'm trying to dofor us. Thanks to everyone who has donated along the way :-)

Wanna thank the community who has donated.
Also want to thank the members who have also given ideas and comments towards a rom idea.

Man not many people like blur...hmmm lol usually people say oh sweet but looks like i targeted the wrong people. Alright il think of something else new. (Plenty of UIs out there waiting to be ported)

The problem with cm9 is that its not completely stabilized yet as the cyanogen community jumped immediately to cm10 not focusing on perfection yet. Usually new builds have problems getting the camera to work, bluetooth, sensors, and sometimes the display to light up correctly so, that would require a team effort. But, that would be a great focus in the long run.

No body mentioned MIUI yet (Dont even know if theres a rom for the spectrum) I personally love MIUI v4 over cyanogen because of the performance, number of customized options and UI enhancements. So, thats a thought as well.

My main goal in a Bionx project is usually bring a droid experience to the device. Whether its device performance enhancments, UIs, themes, all together a new experience. I always go by community thoughts as well.

If you like wallpapers, search on google play rgocal. Bionx wallpapers can be downloaded for all devices. Its included with every build so I can provide new wallpapers for the community.

Ive been focusing on strictly Application development lately.

I read this somewhere else and I have agreed with this for a long time now...

Rule #1 - NEVER ASK A DEV FOR A RELEASE DATE OR AN UPDATE!!
Rule #2 - REFER TO RULE #1

Reason being...
Application development
Droid RAZR development
Finish Ally development test

Spec boy its very impolite to ask when a Dec will have something ready when its ready its ready

I don't see where SpecBoy asked when a Dec [sic] would have anything ready. Here is what he typed:

So when will you start making Lg Spectrum Roms?

With my rather limited comprehension of the english language, I am still able to somehow ascertain that he was wanting to know when the developer would START MAKING roms. I like how everyone else jumped on also. Way to go, guys. ~This is how we get more people into the community - berate them when they are new~

-to clarify-
I will begin after i get to a stopping point in my current activities and i receive the device.
