Just a thought. Can you go to System Settings -> About Phone, take a screen shot showing everything from System Version and below (should all fit on one screen) and post it here? Then we can compare the various versions you have against ours and see if anything changed.

FWIW, I had heard a weak rumor that a new kernel version was in the works and was coming out in August but I've never heard any confirmation of this.
