Just as a note, I have the P7500 3G model here in Canada, and I flashed the P7500 Italian firmware on my Tab using Odin as well. Works great, even comes with UK and US languages and runs very well. Nice improvement over HC v3.2 for sure. I'm a happy camper!
You download and extract the file to your PC. You use Odin on your PC to connect to your Tab and then flash the extracted *.tar.md5 file. Before you try flashing, go into recovery and wipe data/cache, then put the Tab into download mode from recovery, attach the cable and use Odin to start flashing. Odin and this flash will erase everything on the Tab, even backups, music, video, pics, etc. The entire Tab will be formatted for the new firmware, so you will need to set it up again.Sorry if this is a noob question, but am I downloading and extracting the update and Odin to my PC or to my tablet? The directions a vague in that regard. I have only ever done official ota updates, none of which required a PC.
YES! The camera works since this is an official Samsung firmware with the drivers for the camera. It will work just like a regular OTA update since it's the actual Samsung update.Does everything work including the camera? The camera not working is only thing preventing me from upgrading from the stock/rooted rom.

But the hassle is well worth it...ICS is much nicer than HC.

Oh that's right, it's an update so it will keep the data and apps. I don't like updating major OS versions, so I wiped it first then flashed the updated firmware.Odd, nothing on my tab was deleted. Everything I had on there before the update was still there and still worked fine.
I didn't even do the wipe data/cache, still worked fine.
You need to flash CWM or TWRP so you can root. Not sure exactly how as I don't bother with rooting, but there are lots of guides and info here and on XDA for ICS.This rom rocks!!! how do I get root (super user ) back on there tho?
Good stuff. How do you like it?Well i followed the guide..... worked like a charm !
Yes of course, I have two gmail accounts syncing, google play store has my paid apps, etc.For those who have done this, two questions.....
Can you log into all your various accounts including google, gmail, Samsung, etc.,?
No big deal really...I don't do google backups as I have copies of important files, music, videos, pics, all on my PC. I always do a clean install/update with major version changes and then re-install my apps and settings. It's a bit of a hassle, but it ensures a perfectly clean setup. Not counting some CM10 installs to test it out, I've only had to do it once in the last year when I updated to ICS from HC v3.2...but I also don't mind tinkering a bit with my devices. What else do I need to back up and what's the risk if I don't?

I'm not a fan of white keyboards either, but for the performance boost I can learn to live with it.So far so good .... I don't like the default white keyboard, and IM still trying to get used to the swipe keyboard.
You can.but th e screen cap is still there ... Wish I could get rid of it
As I said, I don't root, so I'm not sure if CWM5 works on ICS or not. CWM6 is out which may work...I already have CWM 5 on the tablet, could you suggest a working root method that works with ICS update? I'm not sure if the original method i used to root ( for honey comb) would still work as well.

My bad.
