I did and promptly removed it as it took up 3GB
Can I download it, and then place it back on cloud later?
You have to download it, if you go on the film, click the 3 dots and then click download
Never mind. Got it.
Aren't these things supposed to be device bound so you don't go sharing it around. I know that I'd you want to watch it on your computer or tv it is in the YouTube app under purchases.
I think it is bound to your Google account, not your device. I can watch the Transformers moving on my phone, Nexus 7 or on my computer, all from the Google Play Store.
I was asking what folder it is in out of curiosity.
Technically it is device bound. When you download a movie for offline viewing it is encrypted to the device and therefor cannot be played on any other piece of hardware. This is why we can now watch movies on rooted nexus devices.
Did you mean "now" or "not"? When I had my Samsung Epic (Galaxy 1), I rooted it and then could not watch a movie I rented.
I meant now. At Google IO it was discovered you can watch movies on rooted devices and I can confirm that I can purchase, stream, and watch offline movies from Google Play with no workarounds on a stock, rooted N7 with an unlocked boot loader.
Awesome. Another reason my next phone will be a Nexus phone.
Try watching Transformers Dark Side of the Moon on your Epic. I can't remember if the encryption was added to Google Movies or to Jelly Bean. If it was applied to Play/Google Movies then it should work for any device, not just a Nexus running the latest OS.
...running off to my OG Droid to test:vroam:
I don't have my Epic any longer. I am running the Epic 4G Touch (Galaxy S2). It is stock, not rooted, so of course I can watch the Transformers movie. Oh well, even if all rooted devices can watch movies rented / bought in Google Play, I will still be getting a Nexus as my next phone![]()
