Help No notification alert for my incoming yahoo mail!

Does anyone know if the S3 will sound alerts for incoming yahoo mail and text messages?
I have tried the settings within the yahoo mail settings and im still not hearing any alerts for either, and yes the volume is as high as it can go....

SETTINGS -> OPTIONS -> ACCOUNT SETTINGS -> NOTIFICATION SETTINGS.

From there your have choose sounds, vibrate or show on status bar.

Im using ver 1.4.5...

Im using the android 4.0.4 version
There is no options option inside the setting, There is however the device option then sound option and this is all set up correctly. Default notification is set but not making any sounds for emails or text messages.
I have also been inside the message settings and checked the box for "make sounds and show icon in status bar when you receive messages"

I have worked it out, thanks for your help.
I found the solution in the top pull down menu, there is a notification option that can be highlighted. You need this to be highlighted before the notifications will work.
