Help Sticky volume button

Has anyone else had this problem? That the decrease volume button sticks occasionally? I'm weighing up whether I want to send it back for repair or whether there is a simple solution or whether it will just loosen itself over time. What do you think? This is my first smartphone,so my experience is limited.

No sticky sweets here friend, it came like that out of the box. I,'ve been super careful with my new phone. I''ve seen others having this problem on another forum, but thought I'd try here first :)

Same problem on mine, right out of the box - not impressed. Has loosened slightly after I very gently levered my fingernail either side, but you can tell it's not right - visibly it's not exactly parallel to the side of the phone and it's still sticking often.

At first it was stuck totally every time I used it - so no way was this particular phone tested properly for quality.

This is my second Samsumg, and the second with an apparent inherent design fault.

My Galaxy S3's Volume button was sticky just out of the box. Only problem was I had to post it to UK for warranty which could have cost me about 20 USD. So when I searched youtube I found a video demonstrating how to Disassemble the galaxy S3. So I went ahead
1- Power off the device
2- Remove the Back cover
3- Remove the battery
4- Remove the micro sim and the SD card
5- Remove all the small screws execpt the one in the top most part of the phone.
6- Now take off the plastic piece which will expose the volume rocker area.
7- Now take out the volume rocker as shown in the video.

8- Now slowly re-insert the voume rocker as shown in the re assembly part of the video.
9- Now your volume rocker should be working fine.
10- If it is still sticky you can take it out again and re-insert it again. If it is still sticky inspect the volume rocker for any damage, if so you might have to order a new volume rocker. It is available in Ebay for 5.90 USD. search ebay for ' Volume side button Samsung Galaxy S3 GT i9300'
11- Put back the plastic cover in place, which will clip back in to a good fit.
12- Now put the screws back.
13- re insert the sim and the sd card.
14- put back the batter and the back cover.

Re the sticky volume button issue.. No need to disassemble the phone, introduce a slim thin plastic edge and lever the button out. Then file the sides (silicone bit only) use very fine emery paper, and pop the button back in. Its no longer Sticky..

This totally worked for me! I didn't use a piece of paper though, I used a really tiny flat head screw driver though to get under it, seems like there is something sticky that it gets stuck to. Hopefully it stays fixed, if not I will try sticking a fine emery paper underneath.
