Hello, I have finally decided to switch from iphone to samsung s3 and last week i sold my iphone. Before selling it, i managed somehow to save all my contacts in an excel spreadsheet where the first column is the name of the contact and the second column is the number.

I am trying to figure out how i can transfer my contacts from this excel spreadsheet to my samsung s3. I read somewhere that this should be feasible through gmail but i do not see how i can transfer this excel into gmail!

Please help!

Thank you

This one is actually pretty easy. When you get an Android phone it ties your Android account to an GMail email address and it syncs the data and contacts and such between them automatically. All your app and music and book and video purchases are tied to that email address as well.

So go and create yourself a GMail email address now. Once in it click on the left side of the webpage to switch it to show your contacts. Click the MORE button and select Import. Import your contacts into GMail. Check and make sure they imported correctly. One thing you can do is add a test entry into the contacts and Export it to Excel so you can see exactly how the fields are labeled and such and if need be retitle your columns and such.

Once you get your S3 tell it your existing GMail email address and it will link to it. Automatically all of your contacts will be pulled in.

I tie all my Android phones to my GMail account so any time I update an address in one it's within seconds updated in all my other phones as well as on my desktop. If I make an app purchase or buy a book or song or video it's available to all my phones and tablets and my desktop.

You can sync and pull in contacts from multiple sources so if you have more than one email address it will work. When you save a contact on your phone or desktop you can choose which email address to add it to. the flexibility is outstanding.
