How's battery life on S3? How long do you last?

I'm looking to get an S3 for myself, but I don't really trust battery life tests on GSMArena. How long does your S3 last on average? Will I need to get one of [link redacted] to be able to feel, that I don't need to carry a portable generator with me?

I disconnect it every day at 07:20 and when I come back from work at 19:20 I still have at tleast 20% battery left. I skype, text, make little calls using minutes, browse the net. All on 3G.

depending on usage, I can get a solid day and a half on low usage and 1 full day on normal usage.

With screen on max brightness, I've given my phone to my little sister to play some games and it's gone from 80% to 15% in 3 hours.

I noticed that after a month, the battery seems to last longer than when brand new. I noticed the same for my previous two, smartphones.

I've only had mine four days but so far I've been able to get a full day out of the battery. The last couple days I've been using it heavily setting it up and trying to figure out all the different features.

Most moderate use people I see on this forum can get a full day on it. The heavy users are getting 11-13 hours it seems.

Again, this question has so many variables, its really not a good way to make a decision. Since everyone's use is completely different.

However, to make a generalization, this phone has a reputation to have an above average battery. If that helps any.

Full day is typical and yes like the person above the first few days I had it it seems as if it didn't last as long but now seems to do much better. might be because I just used it more the first few days.

Obviously turn off things like wi-fi and gps and tone down the screen brightness if you need longer life. You can add the NFC tags to make this easier.

I've just got a 4600mah battery from mugen...... I LOVE IT!!!!!! :o:o:o

yeah it's a little bit bigger now with the new back case, but I actually think it feels better.

basically don't use battery life as a factor in your decision on this phone. It's fine. If you use the heck out of the phone you'll need to recharge it, but for normal usage you'll make it all day easily. I unplugged the phone at 8am today....it is 5pm.....I haven't used it much but have answered a call, checked email several times and done a couple things, and it is sitting at 80%. By the time I go to bed it will be 65-70 probably.

6hrs to 4 days is what you'll get. Yes, that is an incredibly wide range. This shows just how much a difference usage makes. 6 hours would be essentially constant screen on. You can probably get it down to 5 if you actually try to, or 4 if you can get the battery hot first. More than 4 days would be a bit tricky, but it too is probably possible.

For any more detailed than that, we need to know what your usage would be, and probably best to have a current phone and the average life you get out of it.

Example: If you have an OG Incredible, and get 16 hours average, you can expect about 18 out of the S3.

Battery life is very subjective, but the main variable for weight is if you use data much and the quality of signal. Good signal equals good battery life and bad signal equals bad battery life. Again, this assumes you are more than a light user of data.

1 day is not enough for me. I'm used to have at least 3-4 days of usage (Nokia phones and such), so I don't care if I'll need to get a bigger battery for it.

Is it this one?

How's the kickstand? I'm worried about it.

I don't think there is a smartphone out there that will give you 3-4 days on a single charge even with an extended battery. Getting a single day out of a single charge from a smartphone is doing good.

Mate that's it... I'm currently sat at 1d8hrs 4hr11m screen time and on 34%. That's heavy usage including three albums downloaded, numerous calls, you tube and a billion texts in response to lance Armstrong...

So far the kickstand is fine, it stays tucked away in its recess. Love it.

Today I did 1 hour of WiFi tethering and spent that hour Skyping on my laptop. 3 hours of screen-on time and around 20 emails.

After 9 hours I had 20% of battery left.

Thanks for the info! Did you get it here?

Hi,
the mugen battery
How was your battery life with the standard battery?
I am a heavy user and get 6-8hours Max on a single charge stock battery what did you get?

I read you are getting over a day on this now?

$94 is quite high, if its only slightly better than this qcell I have now, but if it is a lot better than it might be worth the price, but also, will some case fit on it to protect the sides and face?

Is the kickstands only portrait?

Hi,

The kick stand is both although I think it's only meant to be landscape.

I took it off charge yesterday morning at 0800, I've been hammering it today as I'm going away for a week and wanted to get in the final recommended 12hr charge... So nearly 36 hours with moderate to heavy use. I honestly cant say enough about it. I came from the 4s and this has turned the S3 into an awesome bit of kit for me.

I use the S3 for music, streaming and downloading torrents so obviously I cane any battery...

Sorry forgot to add... Yes far better thank stock battery, as for cases I don't know.

Thanks for all the info, just one more question,
How long did the original battery last for you?
12hrs, 15 hrs, 24 hrs...
I know it is hard to say, but with the way your using it now, how long would the stock battery last (example... some days you got 12hrs stock and others 15hrs)

I usually get a day out of it (around 16 hours-ish)... from around 7 in the morning to about 23 in the evening with between 2.5 to 4 hours screen time.

I can run it out so it beeps around 20 with a bit more than normal use so it would be nice with say a 2500-2800mAh battery with little to no extra bulk, that would make my day. :D

I just bought a 4300 mAh (Danish site) but I'm still trying to figure out if it's too big and bulky to warrant that extra juice and if I really need it. It would be nice with a little less power and a little less size but the 3800 mAh was same thickness so just as well to go for the bigger one. I'm also considering this solution Power Skin which is like a case with a battery inside that can re-charge your phone but it's only 1500mAh more or Power bank which is 2200 mAh

I must say that that Mugen looks awsome and I read somewhere that Hyperion makes a 4500mAh with NFC chip (on Amazon I think)

I have averaged with heavy usage anywhere from 8-14 hours shutting off the 3G and Wifi when not using it.
