I already have dust under my screen!

I have two Nexus Ones, the Tmobile version since launch, and the ATT 3G version since it launched and neither have dust under the screen. Best phones I've ever owned.

Sent from my Nexus One with no dust under the screen

FU*K!! I really hate to say it.. but i do have dust under my screen now. Noticed it this morning. A couple specs of dust. I can really see one spec while i'm texting.

I use the pouch and everything.

One spec is near the top and the other one is near the bottom.

So what do i do? Call HTC for a phone swap??

yes if you can see the dust while texting then yes I would call HTC. Sorry to hear you are having this issue.

lol.. so i put my phone in the pouch. Swung the phone around in my hand and stopped it with it my other hand. It moved the dust so atleast i can't see the fuc*in thing when i'm texting.

Im gonna try the hair dryer method. Wonder where its coming in from though. Screen.. speaker grill.. head jack?? Ahhh..

When I press the edges on the phone.. feels pretty firm and no crackling of any kind.

Okay so I'm starting to think that the dust was already under the screen.

Checked today and no new dust. Didn't use the hair dryer yet.. i will resort to that if i see new dust.

So hoping theres no "leak" lol.

I've found dust today, I've had the phone for a few months now, and this piece of dust is about the size of a period character "." on the screen and very obvious, there's no way in the world I'd never have noticed it before as it shows up on any screen with a single colour or light background and can even be seen when the phone is switched off. it's in the lower left of the screen and is most annoying. I'll wait until HTC release the 2.1 update for my old Hero (which I still have) and will contact them about sorting it out, although as the phone was dropped about a month ago onto a serrated metal plate and sustained a dent in the lower corner of the plastic end-piece I doubt it'll get me anywhere.

Annoying but I may get used to it.

I have dust in the upper right hand corner of my droid, i took it in to the verizon store here in kalispell, and they kind of gave me a hard time like they didn't believe it was a manufacturer problem. They kinda acted like it was something I did to make the dust happened. That was until i sited two other message boards online filled with people who have the same problem. So i just got my replacement today (no battery, no sd card, no back cover) as usual... So i'm checking it out, and I find a hair in the camera lens. Like in between the solid plastic cover and the lens itself. SO back to the ol drawing board. I'm kinda tempted to keep mine with the dust on the screen. At least the camera takes decent pics. Heh, good luck everyone, at least they are quick about sending the replacements. Just make sure you give them a good look over. You dont want a replacement that ends up being worse than what it replaced.

This thread scares me. So far I don't have any dust after 2 months, ATT version. Maybe they fixed it with later ones?

You can only pray that this will never happen to your Nexus. It seems that this issue isn't with our beloved Nexus but smartphones in general.

Oh nooooes...

I think if I haven't managed to train myself to ignore it within a couple of weeks I will be sending it to HTC UK for them to repair. I thought at first I'd get them to swap it, but then that'd mean just getting another phone that might suffer from the same problem. I figure if they actually fix my phone in won't happen again. Hopefully. Plus they'll give it some special treatment whilst its there, I'm hoping. A little cuddle maybe. You know, just so it knows its loved.

I hope you have better luck than i did... I sent mine in for repair (it's engraved) and within two weeks of getting it back. DUST!!

It's worse than it was before but I'm trying to hold off as long as I can, especially if they don't know how to fix it.

The only good thing is that I sent it and got it back in one week.

Hi,
I don't have any visible dust under my screen, however I have a bad case of the "clicky screen".
My screen clicks without excessive force in the top left and right corners. I'm genuinely worrying now because I live in a country where I cannot return it locally and must send it back overseas.
What do you suggest I do? I've heard the clicky screen is the cause of the dust, so is there any way to fix it? I need to try my hardest to prevent any issues so I can avoid sending it back overseas.

Damn i was actually looking at buying a Nexus One from ebay as i seen someone selling them for the more reasonable price of

So just thought i'd update after about 7 months of use.. I ended up returning my first model and exchanging it for another Nexus one around the end of January.

So after 6 months of daily use, kept in pocket all the time, and going naked, i'm happy to report that I don't have one spec of dust under my screen. :D
