HTC One V Recommended Chargers

in my research i've come across several opinions which place great importance on using the manufacturer's chargers as opposed to generic chargers.

i cannot seem to get a straight, definitive answer, i was hoping some of the experts around here could enlighten me.

i am in the market for a car charger for my htc one v.

It shouldn't make a difference, just try and get one that can do 1amp@5volts.

Some will say it needs shielding and such, but even the factory HTC Evo 3d car dock/adapter has very little electronics in it. Problems are few and rare, but you will hear people say it's absolutely the worst thing you could possibly do.

Got some cheap 1amp Car USB charger on ebay...something like $3 shipped.

Works fine after I repaired them. They are badly designed and blew my car acc. fuses. The USB side of the charger is fine, but the 12v (car side) was realy crapy.

I do hobby electronic, all I can say is get anything that can output 5v with a micro-usb plug. Any brand should be fine, as long as the output is good.

If you get 500mA instead of 1A, you might have longer charge time, but it should work fine.

The only device I've seen that "need" 1A is an Ipad.

I got this piece of sh**... find something better

This one is looks like it was built with better material.

You can find combo with Micro-usb cable.

500ma may not be enough juice to actually charge if you are using GPS and streaming. It could be close, making charging take forever.

I agree, that type is the way to go, since they work with anything USB. I too have the first one you linked, in fact I have two. The first started working intermittently after a couple months, but they are very cheap, what can you expect...

I also have one of these, which is quite well made and supports two USB ports, 1Amp per port (1.3Amp peak).

the 2 USB ports will put out 2A @ 5 volts, yet our original HTC charger puts out 1A @ 5 volts. The people who make that device assure me it wont damage my phone.

Thats how electricity works.

The powered device define how much power it need and the power supply (usb car thing) need to provide what is needed.

Just like when you build a computer, you get something like a 850watt psu for a bunch of component that need ~650-700watt. Nothing will blow up if you use a 1200watt psu. Doing the reverse is more problematic... but the PSU would probably blow up first.

You could get a 5v battery that could output 20Amp and your phone would be fine.

As other said, 500mA is probably too low for a proper charge. I know for sure that charging from my computer take a lot of time. Computer USB port are 500mA since it's the "industry" standard.
