OK everyone quit posting until NKT posts something new. Blue Rocket is getting tired of it, so it needs to stop. I don't want to get him mad, so everyone just wait until we get an update from NKT.;)

Edit: Don't get offended, this is just how it sounds coming from someone else in the forum. If you only want NKT's posts, i'm sure they'll be thanked a lot and you can just read those and skip the others, but we've already rehashed the can/cannot discuss thing many times.

Free Kappy and Montana Man!

glad you're with me :p

Thats EXACTLY what I did Sunday. While my wife was shopping I went to Best Buy. They have a better return program. 30 days no restocking fee. and you can do it 3 times according to the salesman and the manager. ;)

Anyways my thoughts were. I want to learn about the android phones while I wait for our mystery phone. So I stopped by Verizon & BB to ask. Verizon was $79 bucks, Best buy was $29 bucks, & Amazon is free. with a NE2. And get this... BB price matches! :D

So after re-clarifying the return policies, I thought ok, the ERIS is the next best thing. Same OS but 1.5 However, there is a 2.1 update overdue. So I figure its a matter of days or weeks till its 2.1 and it will be as close to the "incredible" as I can get till its released. Then return and rock. If not, replace with the Droid for 30 more days, then return and rock. And if for some reason the "inc" is still a mystery, I'll decide wether I keep the Droid or go back to my Curve till I'm happy.

In any case I get 30/60 days with a droid OS to evaluate while I'm waiting with no out of pocket dollars! It was a no brainer.

And here's the best part. The 2.1 with sense is not out yet but.....it IS leaked for the Eris! I was on 2.1 within the hour! :D:D:D

be aware that when you return a phone to Bestbuy it takes them FOREVER to let verizon know that you are now eligible again for a phone at subsidized price

Useless post but funny as hell. FYI this was a dream.

So I go to VZW pissed cause the Incredible is delayed like hell and decide to get the Eris. The guy says, "hold on." Comes back out with a box with no markings. I open it up and start checking out the phone and am like, wow this is no Eris I have ever seen. I am realizing the sound in the store is getting really really loud and was like man it would be incredible if I could mute all these ppl. I look at the phone and and on the screen a mute button appears. I press it and everyone in the store is quiet. I was like HOLY CRAP THATS INCREDIBLE!!!! I flip the phone over and there it is on the back. HTC INCREDIBLE!! The guy looks at me and says you want it? I said, does a crack addict want more crack??!!! HELL YES I WANT IT!! :D

This is the true part. That dream was soooo freakin' real I swear to god I got up in my house and started walking down the hallway to get on my computer to tell you guys I had gotten the Incredible!

This thing has got to be coming out soon! With dreams like that! Jeeeez!!

This is a bad sign.

If there are issues with 2.1 on the Verizon network (a plausible explanation given the Droid upgrade delay and the non-announcement of the Incredible) then Verizon is likely to do a v-e-r-y s-l-o-w rollout of 2.1 in order to be sure they fixed whatever the problem was.

My recollection is that the Droids are getting a phased upgrade over a period of weeks. Isn't it reasonable to assume that if Verizon wants to control and monitor the performance of 2.1 phones on the network, they're going to delay the Incredible until after the Droid upgrade rollout is completely done, and perhaps even for some additional time thereafter?

Didn't we hear somewhere that 70k units were ordered up for VZW in initially? If so, 70k out of 3-3.5 mil for Q1 isn't much.

I don't know how fast shipping works for large quantity stuff like this, but if a phone release was coming up (1-3 weeks) wouldn't they have to be here already or at least en-route?

That was only to one distro center, if memory serves.

Also, I just threw up a little. Fox News just ran a story on Verizon getting....the iPhone.:eek::eek: I know we've been seeing the story, but I really didn't wanna see it on the news...

Im wondering about the return policy too. It's great how you get 3 returns but how long exactly is the delay?

So like you return a phone, do you have to wait like 3 days before you can go back to BB and get another phone at the subsidized price/trade in.

I thought this was a feature of Android 2.1 not specific to the Nexus One???

Both the HTC Legend and the HTC Desire run Android 2.1 and Sense 2.1 and neither use Voice to Text ANYWHERE on the phone (Based on the latest Reviews). These reviews are based on European released phones but that should theoretically be the exact same setup the Incredible uses.

While this IS discouraging, one possibility is that HTC omitted Voice to Text on these phones because Google

Verizon begins Android 2.1 update rollout for Motorola Droid -- Engadget

Yea your right about the phased upgrade. Just read the engadget post. looks like it will be more like a couple of days depending on how many Droid customers there actually are.

If you go through all 18,000 posts here... you'll realize only one thing, NKT is the only person you should trust with valid information. He actually stepped up and got pics of the phone (given they were bad pics), but honest pics nonetheless. Every other SINGLE post is speculation and rumors, absolutely nothing concrete.

The "my friend works for verizon" posts are getting old and providing ZERO credible information to the people watching this thread. I'm personally getting tired of it.

as long as you exchange it for another phone right then, I think you're cool... but if you have to return it (as opposed to exchanging it), you are SOL. It took me about a week of constant phone calls and store visits to get them to clear up my eligibility...

after getting a email from verizon of the incredible specs i tried to get more info about movinand with no luck and they just called me and told me they have no info on the phone its not in there system and to go to phonearena if i want any info on the phone..

Oh, okay, basically if you exchange it for a phone at the same time you return it your good to go?

Thats good, that means i can get an Eris, return, Droid, return, HTC INCREDIBLE!!!!

I do find that interesting. They assured me that as long as I return it to the BB store, everything would be done there, there will be no issues. Umm... I sure hope your wrong!

I was quite up front with both the salesman and the manager about the fact this was NOT the phone I was looking for. And it will be more than likely be returned when the "mystery phone" arrives. And if it DOESN'T arrive, I will more than likely replace it with a Droid. They had no issues with that.

I may not though... this thing is SWEET with Sense 2.1 !!! :D

I thought memory & speed might be an issue. Well... not so far. All my pics vids and music I had on my Berry ate up a gig. Now I got 8? Sweet! ;)

Remember to put that thing back to stock before you return it. I personally would not have risked rooting the phone and putting android 2.1 on it. If they somehow find out, your screwed and stuck with that phone for 2 years while the all so mighty HTC Incredible gets released. You may regret rooting it if you plan on returning it.

I hope its wrong, alot of people are saying the Iphone could ruin Verizons network because of the huge data burden it is. Maybe thats just AT&Ts excuse though...

The latest graphs showed that the Android platform was nipping at the heels of the iPhone as far as Mobile OS traffic. Granted Android is spread across more carriers than the iPhone, but I haven't heard of many problems handling the Android workload, so I think AT&T is trying to use this as an excuse, but Android is slowly pulling back the curtain to reveal AT&T as the real culprit.

Edit: an even bigger indicator may be how big of jump the Android traffic took since the DROID and Eris have been released. Seems like Verizon is handling the influx of traffic just fine.

The problem with the whole AT&T getting slowed down was that there towers weren't sufficient. Recently, AT&T upgraded their network and now actually have the fastest 3G network, no lie, they can brag about it all they want now. The network upgrade seemed to have fixed the iPhone lagging out when browsing etc...Basically, it was a problem with AT&T not being prepared with how many people were going to be using the data, it's all fixed now pretty much. Atleast according to a post a whiles back by engadget with graphs and data tests done by them showing AT&T network is now the fastest 3G data.

yup, just pay attention to the 30 day windows and hope that BB offers the incredible... if you have to go to VZ to get the incredible, leave yourself some time

They last for as long as the staff member issued it for. It wasn't me, cause I do not give out infractions, I just warn the member and if not heed to then I just ban. Simple as that.

With responses like that its no wonder you are on probation. :D

First of all, it is true that we somewhat modeled the EVO thread after the Incredible thread but that's about it. The posters over there are a bit more reserved in their comments than the ones here mainly because we do know the device is coming out and thus there isn't any let down feeling. Spec wise the phone is outstanding and we know it. The carrier, well that all depends on where one lives and their past experiences. I've never had a problem with Sprint, but with Verizon and AT&T I have. for others, its the other way around. either way I am the type that tries not to bash another phone or carrier and especially as a moderator we really shouldn't come across as bias anyway. Regardless, there are plenty of Guides and mods overlooking this forum and thread, (and impressive thread at that, since its one of the biggest and most searched after threads in the net). So I basically do not have to step in and go off on folks when they act inappropriate. Over in the EVO thread/forums its a different story. Hope that answers the first quote.

in a way i understand the reason why you guys are so up in arms over the Incredible, its an outstanding phone and yet Verizon is acting like it doesn't think so. But soon enough it will be here, just be patient folks.

as for the second quote, bite me sprint hater, I just increased the probation to 4 weeks. :p

(Just joking about the probation increase)

TS out

I have never had a problem with Verizon anywhere. Where others have no signal, I always have.

He didn't need to root the Eris to get the leaked 2.1 on it. It will still update to the official 2.1 when it is realease, so he should be fine.

Ahhh interestingly enough... its NOT rooted.. its just a leaked update! No rooting involved. ;)

And.. while its not quite ready yet... from what I've read, there will be a backwards update shortly.. I can take it back to stock! Yes.... I know its a gamble.. what isn't in life. Worst case scenario, I get stuck. I mean...really...it's not "Incredible"....(I hadda) ... but it's NOT a bad phone! :p And I'm having fun while we wait! :p
