What are you doing?

Thought I'd start a new thread, based on a question that's often asked on Chinese IM, like QQ. The question is "What are you doing?"

So "What are you doing?" I'm introducing Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, China to Jethro Tull, with songs like Living in the Past, Witch's Promise, Sweet Dream, My God, Aqualung and Teacher.

I knew it existed, I was trying to find that before I started this thread, but just kept on getting "Not found", "Denied" and "Your IP address is banned" messages. Google really seems to hate China. AF uses Google Search to search threads. Why I've set my default Chrome search to Microsoft's Bing now.

China is the largest Android market in the world, yet Google seems to have so many problems with China.

China tried to get google to censor results for search terms originating from China. Is it related to all that beef?

Well I guess right now your hating Google search. :D

I believe that's what it is. I find it interesting how all the Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo and Amazon online works perfectly here, yet most of Google's stuff is blocked or denied, e.g. Docs and Search. Google Play on Android is free apps only, no paid content. Google was on the verge of losing it's business and internet license in China a while back. If a company does business in a foreign country, they have to comply with that country's laws?

An interesting and good one for me, is that Google on their .cn domain gives away free MP3s legally. Only available in China though, not elsewhere. Copyrighted MP3s that you have to pay for elsewhere, like the US and UK.

Yes but censorship is a whole other conversation. However if freedom of speech / information is part of your ethos, don't do business in countries that operate in grey areas....

Microsoft, Yahoo, Apple and Amazon seem to have no problem with that. Perhaps Google should swallow their pride and get on with it?

Anyway...I'm off to bed now 00:43.. night night. wan an. 😴

I've never known Microsoft or Apple have much in the way of scruples to be honest ;)

G'night

Good for you. Tull is absolutely worth the effort. I love them. Ever seem them live? Wow Weeeeeee what a great concert. I have an affinity to JT because I once played the flute. Then I gave it up because I got beat up. Then I carried a sharpened piccolo in my pocket and my troubles dissipated.

Eventually I went Banjo. Lots of hillbilly jokes, but that nice heavy tone ring gives weight and the thin neck makes it easy to beat people. The banjo already sounds like someone is getting hurt so their screams are covered up. Hint: if you record it, you will likely have a hit on your hands.

After Tull, I suggest Uriah Heep, Grand Funk Railroad, ELP, King Crimson and Johnnie Winter, to name just a few.
