OTA 2.1 Has started..

/cry

My buddy gave me the cold shoulder about it...TRUST me...as soon as I saw the reply asking for me to post the update file....my heart sank. I'm truly sorry for not thinking, I'd been waiting like everyone else here since what? January?

And in my haste, and utter delight, I clicked install.

And I'm sorry to you all. :(

I feel bad for you. You could have been the hero of the day. :o

My phone shut itself off for no reason and had to battery pull to get it going again. Never happened before. I am rooted but could this have been caused by the update trying to come in? Just curious not worried.

someone that's bored should be able to write a script to try all combinations:
https://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.????????.zip

I don't have time to work on it, but a simple loop using:

wget -S https://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.????????.zip
--14:21:19-- https://android.clients.google.com/updates/voles/signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.????????.zip
=> `signed-voles-ESE81-from-ESD56.????????.zip'

Just grap for the server response code when it does NOT equal 404 and print your variable.

I'll try an undelete software I have when I get home on the phone.

Maybe I can recover the file? I'll keep ya posted.

im just messing with you...while it would be nice IF you could...we will all live. Dont feel bad, its kind of funny. Please dont beat your children because of me...do it out of love. ;-)

LOL

Nah....I just know how I'd feel too...the good news is, even if I can't recover it, plenty of people will get it tonight at midnight.

SO...hopefully this thread will remind people getting the update, how NOT to be like me, and get it to the rest of you clowns. :p

To be honest, I was expecting A LOT more. The phone now using the stock home launcher, is HORRENDOUSLY slow with the update. Even without live wallpapers. Home ++ on 2.0.1 was MUCH nicer IMHO.

Yeah, I'm rooted and my phone has been acting funny all day.

I'm in the process of unrooting right now and it's taking FOREVER. I was 66% done (via dmupdater), my girlfriend called (forcing me to start over from scratch), and she wasn't talking about ANYTHING worthwhile:mad::mad::mad:

who the heck even uses Yahoo mail these days? Isn't that like so 1990's. And great, I bet that means some new icon app we can't delete.

If you got it, congrats man! You're one of the lucky ones. And don't worry about these impatient haters. ;)

+1

man, some of you guys are lame about this. it's a friggen phone update for God's sake, not a cancer cure. Get a life and go do something more valuable with your time than name calling, ban calling, good Lord.

-ninja'd-

Okay, for the guy who got the update, he can still be a hero... I know how he can get the update.zip off if he really wants to.

From what you have said, you don't seem to be extremely tech-savvy, but this isn't too complicated of a procedure, the only drawback would be losing your data, but you could back up your apps via Astro File Manager, and all your contacts are automatically backed up so it would just be a minor inconvenience. That said, please think of your peeps.

HOW HE CAN BE OUR SAVIOR:

Please correct me if I am wrong, but his phones individual ID is set to get the update no matter what now correct? That means if his phone is not up to date, the update should get pushed to his phone again, correct?

Well here is my idea,

Use RSD Lite or whatever else you think would work to flash back to 2.0.1.

If his phone is then not 'up-to-date', then it should get re-pushed so he can copy it off before updating again.

Let me know if there are any holes in my plan, but I personally think it is worth a shot!

Zach
