Do You Remember This?

Being alive is a gas. ;)

I forgot 'its a gas.' And you are right, cool man (snapping his fingers in the AF coffee shop while the poets drone on, endlessly, surrounded by the smoke of other hipsters . . .) I'm hip, man. Groovy.

There is another thing for the list. Hipsters and poets reading poetry in a dive filled with smoke while the bad poets drone on and on. Fingers snapping approval.

From time to time. Ink my own ribbons, lol, no hope for the old red/blacks though.

Learned to type on it, so many years ago, Mom watching like a hawk for home key drift and numbers cheating. :D

My mom did the same thing. She was a secretary for many years and when I had to take type in school, she became a Catholic school Nun with a ruler.

She also freaked out when she was so much as a penny over or under when she balanced the checkbook.

Court stenographer and legal secretary. I got off easy on that machine and shorthand. My sisters, not so much!

I had a two color ledger by the time we had Cub Scout dues, kept one there ever after.

Jack. Kouroak. Real. Is. Real.

(spelling on his name, it's been a while :p)

LOL . . . yup. Those days are gone. Not sure if that is good or bad. Like the legitimate hippy. I am sure I think I miss them. Hippies of today are nothing like those from 1960 or so.

I love this song:

Scott McKenzie - San Francisco - YouTube

I have always absolutely and totally loved that song. Not sure why; it might be that I remember the times (I was 12 at the time) and by God, things were great and we kids were not aware of the world's problems.

RIP, Scott.

the old ho trains, i had a great set my dad and i made with tunnels, houses, cars, street lights, ect... and my two younger brothers played king kong vs godzilla on it and when my father seen what happened, well you can just imagine what happened in the olden days. ( i cried for them) but in the end we all turned out ok.

Are those yours? If so very cool. If not, still very cool. I am amazed at how adults have adopted the toys I remember and made then uber cool and costly to be sure. Not just expansive train layouts shown in the magazines, but things like R/C airplanes. For example:

Very, very, very fast Turbine powered RC Jet - YouTube

The fun starts about 6 minutes in.

this one is mine and is pretty cool to play with. kinda makes you feel like a kid again.

Today we move ever towards hands free technology: voice commands and motion sensing input. Before that we were introduced to touch-screen interface: a life without buttons. This came after buttons ruled the world. Everything had buttons! Before that was dials. Even "computers" used dials. My first microwave, t.v., and radio all used dials.
Before that, I guess I don't know.
Use-your-imagination is what.

"Jumpin Jack Flash, it's a gas"

Are you still grokkin' it?

That's another old one if you remember.

I remember "its a gas" and I like totally forgot "grokkin it." And I remember people adding "like totally" to sentences. I do not think I like totally used that one, however.

Battleship anyone!

I have a Battleship set. Not that color scheme, but it plays the same. :)
