Root [mod] 4g hack

Here's how you do the 3G tweaks for the virgin phone

When you reach step 4, instead of hitting 'advanced', hit DSS.

Change the DSS Proxy Server IP Address to 0.0.0.0
Change the DSS Proxy Server Port to 0

I tested 3g twice before I did the tweaks, and twice afterwards. Before, I got 218kbps and 310kpbs. After the tweaks I got 1108kbps and 1082kpbs
 
Just put the 3g tweaks on my phone. On speed test I now access a Kansas server??? The closest I can get to San Diego where I am is Albuquerque, NM.
No real increase in speed for me.

Did you do the 3g tweaks through the "DSS" menu like I posted or did you do it through the "advanced" menu with the HTTP proxy?
 
These aren't the highest I've gotten but still great :-D on wimax 4G in downtown

I have done both the 3G and 4G hacks for my phone. Does anyone know if I flash a different rom or an update of the same rom if I will have to reinstall these again?

Tried the 3g hack with sense ville rom... No go! Lost 3G alltogether! had to reactivate my phone even when I went back and put the old settings back in.
 
So this is useless for root users. Right? If you do it in stock then flash your ROM of choice you loose it.
 
I'm s-off, running midnight rom cuz I wanted to fix the mms error
If I do the 4g hack will I have issues again?,
 
I'm on midnight and did both the 4g and 3g hacks. They run good.

If you install a new Rom, the 3g sticks, but you have to reflash the 4g hack.

You have to do both almost every time you flash a rom.

Harmonia now has the 4g hack installed, Eventually I hope to incorporate the 3g hack as well.
 
Well it appears that the tower is down in my area, so the mod did not cause a loss of service. Sorry if I confused anyone with my last post. Sucks not having a phone all day cause of that....

i had a couple towers down for 5 days after a storm. i called to ask what was up, they told me, then credited me 20 bucks on my bill since i was out of service. didnt even ask. try and milk it
 
I don't think people are accurately measuring their speeds before applying the "hack". Running speed test one time before and one time after is not going to give any kind of accurate result. I would suggest running speed test at least three times prior and three times after using the average each time. For example, my upload speed was 385 in one test and 690 in one immediately following. Nearly doubled without any kind of hack. If you've taken a general statistics class you could probably go as far as testing more then 3 times and finding outliers, ect..:)
 
I did test 3 times for that reason and there was a gain on 3g (no 4g to test).


If people did this on benchmarks we wouldn't have some of the wild claims we see regarding tweaks and such.
 
Anyone else try to use the distance hack for 4G?

1)You need to go to your EPST menu by ##3282#
2)Edit mode. Enter MSL
3)Tap WiMAX, and scroll to (about) the middle.
4)Look for a section called " WiMAX_Entry_RX(RSSI)(dBm) " and change this from -89 to -109, this will allow a further distance reception.
5)Press MENU, and Commit Modifications!
