Returned my Atrix HD today

I gave it 2 weeks and wasn't happy with it. I really wanted to like this phone.

The battery life is horrible, even with JuiceDefender - if you're off wi-fi and use it at all you'll need to recharge by late afternoon.

The camera is hit or miss, and very noisy in low light.

Wi-fi drops even with a fairly strong signal - I see it switch to 4G and the wi-fi symbol disappears, then it comes back and reconnects, but it does it repeatedly if you're not right next to the router. My Captivate has better wi-fi.

The pluses for me were: screen, speed, design, grip, notification light, ICS. But it wasn't quite enough.

The One X is supposed to be $99 tomorrow (don't know if that's a permanent price drop) but I'm thinking of leaving AT&T anyway.
 
FWIW, I'll most likely be returning mine a well...reception is slightly worse than my at&t branded Note, and unlock codes may not be available until after my 30 return period. I mainly wanted this phone for my T-Mo account, as it supposedly has the AWS band. The persistent search widget, on every screen is a bit much, esp. for someone who never uses it. Along w/the typically hard keys being moved to the screen, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a 720p screen.

Other than that, I like the performance and features. I just wish the reception was somewhat close to that of my Moto Defy.
 
I'm pretty disappointed with the phone myself. I miss my One X. The battery life isn't that impressive, the touch screen is over-sensitive, motoblur or whatever software they have now w/ ICS isn't compatible with any other launcher in the sense that it doesn't work properly. The camera isn't responsive sometimes and I get a bit of lag.

Just curious......why did you give up the One X over this?

They gave me a free Atrix HD, brand new, from a Motorola sponsorship thing my job has. So I basically sold my One X to make some extra $$ assuming I would be happy with the HD, since I really liked the Atrix and Atrix 2.

Big mistake.
 
Hopefully a fix will be put out to enable getting rid of that ghostly search box that shows on all the home screens. That is the only thing I don't like as it takes up screen real estate. Wonder why they did that & not provide a way to delete this box?
 
I returned my today too. Back to the One X. Very relieved. I was a huge Moto Atrix fan but this Atrix HD really left a lot to be desired. Maybe they can get it right with their next gen device for AT&T.
 
Surprised you were not happy with reception as this is one reason I really like this phone! Live in almost dead zone for AT&T. Every other smartphone I had (which has been many) lost calls or broke up in my house. The MotoHD shows about the same signal strength, but somehow holds on to calls and keeps voice clarity high. I can even go into my basement and not miss a thing. Only my wife's iPhone 4s can do that also.

My battery life seems to have improved the more I used the phone. It was scary bad at first, but comparable to my Samsung GS2 and Infuse 4G, both of which I had exteneded life batteries.
 
Boy. I use my phone an awful lot. Games - texting - browsing - etc. Yeah, the battery is not the best but it is not the worst either. I have added battery managing apps that have improved performance substantially. I love this and am so glad I got it.
 
I would get the [FONT=&quot]Motorola [/FONT]Atrix HD over the HTC One X any day especially when getting locked into a 2 year contract. Better file management and offers an SD card option. (if you have a One X and have to get a replacement or upgrade into a different device then you have to save all your info (like pictures) to a computer or Bluetooth them over as opposed to just removing the SD card from the HD and putting it into the replacement.

If you got the upgrade then go for the SIII, it
 
I got my Atrix HD a couple of months ago, I was hesitant initially so far I have been generally happy. Big downside is no support for Lapdock, but Moto is dropping the Lapdock completely which is a shame, really liked it with my Atrix 4G. The problems with the performance issues were resolved with ICS, but the 4G won't be getting the upgrade. That and like most device manufactures these days the battery isn't swappable, that pisses me off but o'well what can you do.

Anyway as a whole the HD I've been happy with, with Juice Defender Ultimate the battery life increased significantly. That and I have a portable charger that once charged up I can change my HD a good three times before recharging it.

I won't be looking for another phone anytime soon, I'm happy with it.
 
The atrix hd is going to be obsolete soon and is $1 at best buy, the one x is going out too, with the new htc in the talks
 
I don't know how "obsolete" the HD is (ALL phones on the market now will be "obsolete" fairly shortly, depending on when new software is available) but the HD still seems like a great deal. I have literally read 20+ different reviews and the battery life and camera are the problem areas on all of them. That said, I don't use my phone as my camera when on vacation or when the pictures are important, and I have a car charger and spare office charger, so charging during the day isn't that much of a hassle for me.

HD performs nearly as well as the HTC One in nearly every category, and has some of the same hardware. I am seriously considering the HD as my next phone. I have the Atrix 2 and am unhappy with some of the quirks that the upgrade to ICS has caused. It seems that the upgrade from ICS to Jelly Bean was not nearly as problematic as for the HD.

And I can go to AT&T and get a $100 gift card for upgrading to HD OR just go to Radio Shack and get the HD for FREE with a re-newed contract.

Any reason I SHOULDN'T go with HD?
