Picked up my N7 yesterday

I love it.

Best way to sum that up I suppose lol. I picked up a 16gb from Office Max (whom I despise) but came home and played with it and was extremely happy. It reminded me of when I got home with my brand new Galaxy Nexus back in January.

So far with my $25 Play credit, I've got Tapatalk, LightFlow Pro (for my GNex), and Nova Launcher Prime, all of which have been worthwhile so far.

One question I did have, however, are .avi files playable? I use MX Player and was trying to play some Breaking Bad episodes but they weren't loading up. Any thoughts on an alternate player that could or is it impossible to play them?

BS Player can play the file, but am I missing something or can I not rotate the player so that I get the full resolution. It only plays in portrait mode

MX uses hardware decoding by default if I'm correct. When something doesn't play, try selecting a different decoder. Top right while playing it should say h/w for hardware, switch to s/w or h/w+. The latter actually works wonderfully for me so far, more compatibility, excellent performance.

Well I'll be... lol I could have sworn I had played with that setting before to no avail, but I switched it up over to S/W and it worked beautifully. I don't seem to have the H/W+ decoder. Is that something with the Pro player?

Nah I have the free one. I read something in the latest update about disabling it by default so it might be a check box in settings or something for new installs, seems some devices have problems with it.

Install EStrongs File Explorer (ES Explorer) as it is useful for file manipulation and allows you to see files of a different format that are not visible through Google Music / Video

For a media player, use MoboPlayer. This is great as it has user-selectable hardware and software decoding mode and will easily cope with AVI files.

Job done :)

I was able to get H/W+ decoder to work with MX Player so now MX will play my .avi files =) Thanks for your guys help. Much appreciated
