Root [AT&T] Recovering stock messaging app?

ItsChopBro

Newbie
I deleted my stock messaging app after downloading Go SMS Pro. I started having issues with sending/receiving pictures with Go SMS so I switched to Handcent. In which I'm still experiencing receive issues.

Is there a way I can download the stock messaging up the phone came with?

thanks for your help

If you are rooted and running a stock ROM.... the easiest method is just to reflash the ROM... no need to do a factory reset.

Otherwise you can pull the app from any compatible ROM and push it to the phone through adb.

The program 7zip will allow you to pull individual apps out of any ROM zip... which will include the messaging app.

I'm not rooted. I'm fairly new to Android o/s , and not familiar with how to pull the file from a ROM and push it through. In a nutshell can you explain this process. Sorry, don't mean to sound like such a noob.

There's no way you could have deleted a system app without root and the stock messaging app is system based...please explain how this is possible without root?
