Of course the only person who really has to be happy with the idea is Fuzzy but I honestly don't get it.
He's paying $5 more a month for capped at 2G data instead of unlimited. A year and a half of that eats up 1/2 of the $200 he saved on the phone.
I haven't seen anything that says that anyone who gets a Metro S3 won't be able to still use their phones fully even in 2015 when the merge is finished. Whatever the new TPCS management does with Metros plans, it doesn't make any sense for them to raise it past the point where they aren't still the cheapest/best non-contract plan. They know a lot of their customers are going to go where it's cheapest and best even if that's not TPCS. I just don't see them making any dramatic upward swings in the plan pricing.
Seems to me if you're happy with Metro now and were going to get a S3, I haven't heard any reason not to. (If I've read correctly and what I read here was correct, the worst case scenario is that in 2-3 years a Metro S3 owner might have to have it unlocked.)
But, I'm not the one that has to be happy with the decision either...

I will be paying more a month. BUT, the 4G in my area will be 3-4x as fast. Remember though this is in MY area. I dont live in places that get 10mb down. I live on the edge of the 4G line so I get the bare min. So that little extra is worth WAY more for the return im getting for data speeds and the much larger coverage. (And I dont use my phone like other people. I dont stream movies, music or radio. I make calls, text and surf the web. Im a developer. Well, a wanna be. lol. I make themes, tweak ROMs and kernels. That's my thing.
As far as I know you WILL be able to use your metro phone in 2015. Remember this is THREE YEARS from now. My Gnex will be long gone and i will have had 2-3 more phones by then. It's not a big deal right now. lol
Also, Tmobile could care less about Metros customers honestly. They wanted the spectrum. Remember even if they loose HALF of metros customers thats only 4Mil compared to the 24mil they have or whatever the number is. So, what has been said is that metro pcs will be GONE in 2015 thus people will either be forced to switch to a Tmobile plan or just go elsewhere. At that point all the metro plans will be gone. now, T mobile MIGHT adjust their BYOD and prepaid plans to subsidize this but thats up to them, they dont HAVE TO, remember that.
And lastly, I've never been fully sold on the S3. Battling that alleged price tag changed my mind every day. just because I dont say those things on here doesn't mean they aren't happening. I've never been sold on all the shit Samsung added and yada yada yada. Honestly, someone mentioned the other day that they weren't getting the S3 because they have been using the Gnex for a while now. I completely forgot about the Gnex. I mean in a world full of hundreds of bad ass smart phones, who would think that would happens. lol. But I dont really keep up with the newest and best anyways. So, that got my wheels turning. I checked the price on Google Play and as soon as I saw that price I was pretty much sold.
Soooooooo, long story short. If I dont like Tmobile. Ill leave. No contract remember. And then I can go to straight talk, Simple, Att......wait no I think I owe ATT some money. lol You get the point. So, I could have just gone to Straight Talk and paid cheaper than what Im paying now and get the same stuff. Why didn't I? Thats a whole different topic.
I've weighed ALL my options. Plan, phone, COVERAGE. I've been with Metro for almost 10 years so this wasn't easy but it was time for a change. I want a newer phone but I dont want the S3. No choice but to venture out. Nothing wrong with that.
I'll see y'all in 2015
