Android Tablet and App for Alzheimers

Hello,
My mother is 81 and has Alzheimers.
She is always asking what day or date it is.
(Also, she still goes to "work" at the salon my sister took over)
She ask if she goes to "work" now sometimes at 07:30 everyday.
I would like to find a tablet that is least expensive and has a display of:

WeekdayName
MonthName NumeralDate
Time

And also possibly a schedule powered
Field on the display for Work or NoWork.
This might be tough, but if she knew the date she could
at least look on a color coded calendar.
If she doesn't know the day or date a coded calendar is not useful.

Oh yeah, big letters and numbers.

If you could recommend a good inexpensive tablet, maybe I could get
a freelance app designer to come up with an app. I guess he could market
it. Must be a few people that would buy it to help their parents.

Anway, she needs an App for that.

How much would something like this cost for a
freelancer to do? Could possibly be only html php code
but I have no idea. The scheduling might be just a tad
difficult but a Fancy scheduler is not needed because
the app really only needs to track a few dates and my mom
would never be able to figure out how to use it.
Doesn't have to be pretty unless the designer would want
to market and sell it later.

I can't help on the app side although I certainly hope someone here could help you out. On the tablet side you could grab a Nexus 7 for $200. It is by Asus / Google so you know it will be supported for some time to come. I have two of them myself and thoroughly enjoy them. Also, one is for my 5 year old son, so even though he is careful, it still gets a little rough and tumble and keeps working fine.

While researching on my Post-Graduate project I came across your post.I am in the process of creating an android app for patients suffering from Alzheimer .I am currently at the initial stage of project.Like you mentioned the main focus is on vERY VERY EASY INTERFACE and It should be on a 10 inch tablet .

I really would like to discuss more about this with you....(If my app could be meaningful to at least one person in this world then I have done my job).

Hi Vyshas,
I too am looking for an app that might help my parents who have Alzheimer's. The products on the market are poor, expensive and could be a lot better. I would very much like to work with you and help with your project.
 
Have you completed this, I work for a home care angency and am looking into apps to suggest to clients' families.
