hi there,

I'm using galaxy tab 10.1 GT P7500 running android 3.2. and android 4.0 already available in my country. And I want to upgrade to android 4.0 through Samsung software update(not manually) will I loose my data and images on the tab after upgraded to 4.0? I just want to know that :)

Thank you

no you shouldn't lose anything, though is your device rooted? can you make a backup JUST in-case?.

You wont lose anything. Not even your homescreen settings. I updated my Galaxy Tab using Samsung Kies from 3.2 to 4.0.4

I would suggest to make a backup because that is a full system change going from 3.2 to 4.0, so you might want to do a factory reset upon upgrading just so everything runs smoothly.

I would suggest in backing everything up with Titanium Backup, and maybe backing up texts and such with SMS Backup & Restore

Titanium Backup probably requires a root though. However SMS should be good :)

You probably won't lose anything but i usually like to factory reset just so things run smoothly just in case ;)

thank you for the replies :)

but will android 4.0 run smoothly on my tab or there still some bugs on android 4.0?

You'll get 4.0.4, not 4.0...Samsung jumped the earlier more buggy versions. So far 4.0.4 on my Galaxy Tab is smooth as butter with no stutters whatsoever.

yeah 4.0.4 runs smoothly, you shouldn't have any problems
but if you do just bug us so we can help :3

thank you guys. my update to ICS succesful without loosing any data :D but it takes some time to get to use this os as it is a big change from honeycomb

It definitely is but it's pretty awesome having a unified experience across devices. Love how ICS and JB work on both phones and tablets. Enjoy!
