Root [Verizon] Google Voice Dialer & Google Now

Well I checked out the suggested threads and if any of them answered my issue I didn't understand it.

I work from my car a great deal of the time as I have a business that has me on the road several hours a day. As a result I use a Voice Dialer via my bluetooth headset regularly while driving.

My experience has been when it works is that Google Voice Dialer more accurately dials the people and places in my address book than the one that I believe is native to the Samsung key pad.

My problem is Google Voice Dialer stops working quite often. Does this have something with being rooted and running CleanRom. Is there something I need to do or change?

Secondly does CleanRom's version of Google Now run the full Google Now functionality?

I notice that SynergyRom says: "Fully working Google Now with Jelly Bean voice search and offline dictation." Does it do more than then CleanRom's?

I am trying to assist you with your problem but i do not have familiarity with Clean Rom.

If you have a version past Clean ROM 2.5 it should be working fine.

It could be an issue with connectivity as i know the voice dialer can be kind of wonky without connection to the internet.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. Yesterday I switched to SynergyRom and frankly I like it a h...of a lot better. Had I not had the issue described above I likely would have stuck with CleanRom and would not have discovered I like this one more.

I think a lot of the difficulties and confusion I've had since starting Rooting and Roming just last weekend came from fear of bricking my new phone. At this point as I've played with ans set things up within SynergyRom I almost cannot imagine Jelly Bean when its finally released on Verizon being any better. Since I'm such a noob I can't describe things in the right terms, but I'll just say working with SynergyRom feels right so far.

I think right now the only thing more I want to do is find keyboard that feels more natural to me. I just don't want spend money trying to find the right one, but once I find the one I decide to live with I'm more than willing to pay.

Personally i have always stuck with CyanogenMod for my ROM, i love it and i love how i can basically theme it to look like whatever i want :)

Enjoy your new phone basically since you have a new ROM :p

And feel free to ask any questions if you still need assistance!

You can always force the S-voice to shut down it's service in settings and then it defaults to the Google/android voice dialer.
True the 'S voice' is sort of a Fail but try:
'Voice Control Test' (VERY good and FAST dialer) from app store
AND/or
'Assistant' by 'speakoit' Speakoit assistant is amazing and much faster than S-Voice. She can do anything that S-voice can and faster. She also sets-up a morning 'briefing' of things you do that day using your calendar, email, task, weather...etc (actually speaks them to you). It also will incorporate your facebook account, evernote account, etc as well. It's a very complete Asisstant (better than Siri) and you only pay for a better voice. I purchased the UK female voice because I liked it. They have many voices though. That is the only cost.
