Root [International] No signal after rooting

Can you go into settings - about phone - status and see if your IMEI number is showing? (Don't post it here! Just need a yes or no)

i think the problem is modem.
there is no modem file installed i think. in settings it says baseband verion = unknown
IMEI is unknown.

I see. I'll try and get some others to look at this as I don't know too much about this aspect of the phone.

Does your IMEI say - 'null/null' or 'unknown'? I have found a few things about this issue I think, hopefully I can give you a hand once I've read a bit more

It sounds like your efs folder may have been wiped. Using a root file explorer could you go to /efs on your phone and see if the folder contains any files

You should still be able to connect to WiFi so you can download one from the market.

You need to turn on the root explorer option in settings

If the folder contains files it's likely that the nv-data file has been corrupted so it should be easy to fix. Download Ktool from the play store and use this to backup your efs folder. After the backup is complete run the check to make sure it's worked then use Ktool to restore the backup to just made. Reboot your phone and you should be good

i just downloaded a es explorer. i searched for a folder called efs.
it found it here:
system/tombstones/efs

it's emptry.
there are other folders here as well, dsps, efs, lpass, modem, qcks, wcnss

all are empty.

ok, it's getting weird. the /root folder is not empty any more.
maybe i made a mistake first time round.
i'm going to try and backup with ktool.

I want to try this but how can i enable the diagnostic port?
is that usb debugging?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442

You would follow the 'Touchwiz Diag' on the first post to enable the diagnostic port. However please be careful as that guide is for the Verizon S3 which uses a different chip and therefore the instructions on that post are not the same as you would need to do. For example -

10.) Select "Qualcomm USB Settings"

The international S3 uses the Exynos processor not a Qualcomm one. I imagine though it would say that on yours if you were to follow the guide.

I've also noticed this further down -

The /nvm/eri_0 that is uploaded to this forum comes from a stock s3, although its the same ERI file Verizon has been using forever. Thats all this tool does. Simply fix's the IMEI and uploads a good eri file to the correct directory.

I don't know much about this but the file that is provided (eri_0.rar) could be the complete wrong file and might mess up your phone more if you try.

Hopefully someone can clarify if I'm right or wrong but just be aware ;)

i think i'm going to give up fixing this myself. just gonna look for the stock UK rom for this, anyone have a link?, flash the stock rom, triangleaway the flash counter and then get a service center to fix it.

thanks i'll drop him a message.

So now how? My S3 LTE 4G (singapore ) also got problem after root with CF. Baseband version - unknown. IMEI- unknown. nul/nul. CP: unknown. now no SIM card service. Don't know what to do. Can you give me any suggestion? Thank a lot.

Hi, I have the Same problem that I applied the wrong CF root v6.4 onto my s3 lte i9305. My baseband also become Unknown.

I tired to use the CWM Recovery Tar for i9305 to try to root the phone again. I am able to successfully apply via Odin, but i tried with no Autoreboot then pull battery , then to boot wih VolumeUp+power+home buttons. It just hangs there forever.

I now can either boot normally without baseband, or boot in download mode, or boot in normal recovery mode but not CWM.

Please advise how I can fix the baseband problem?

Jerry
