Root NexTheme ESE81 R3 Release (4/21/10) - New Goodies!

Not an issue at all, just wanted to make sure I was looking at what everyone else is looking at. You guys do this in your free time, I'm in nooo hurry to get anything from you guys. As far as I'm concerned, anything you guys give us, which is always better than stock is a perk. So, take your time. Whenever it's done, it's done!

Only issue with Helix is if using bettercut you need to go to the original launcher and create a custom icon, then switch back. No big problem (once I figured it out). Chevy's low voltage 1000 is running great. I will play with the 1200 when I get home from work.

Aha, I see! I've never used bettercut before. It seems more convenient, but it only changes the shortcut right, not the actual icon in your launcher drawer? That would bug me :(

Anyways, I think I'll just include a themed 5-screen launcher in the final release as well.
 
Fab,

I'm trying to remove the helix launcher, and I'm getting permissions denied error when I try and run the command mountsys after type su.

Plus, the apk isn't called Launcher2.apk it is call com.helixproject.launcher.apk.

Any ideas?

Just trying to get some ram back.

Did you run enablescripts first? This needs to be done once before running any other script.

so:

su
enablescripts
mountsys
cd /system/app/
rm com.helixproject.launcher.apk

Actually, when I change the shortcut in the regular it does appear in Helix so once you learn the trick it runs fine. Helix is far more stable than the 3D launcher so it is worth the extra steps.

I am getting permission denied when I try to run enablescripts
The strange thing is I was able to run enable scripts right when I installed the ROM and rmcorpcal but now I cannot run any of the scripts and get permission denied when I try any of them.
Any ideas?

EDIT: I figured it out I did need to do the fix that was thought to not be needed. I had to:
fix the permissions:

chmod 777 /system/xbin/enablescripts

then run enablescripts
 
Does anybody have a Deoxed Laucher2.apk that will work with this ROM? I had one that worked great on the old NexBeast But cannot get it to work on this one, it keeps force closing. I think it may be do to the fact that this has been Deoxed but am not sure.

I personally prefer the 3D App Drawer it feels snappier to me and I have never had problems with it hogging memory.
 
is it possible to get the standard market icon back? that one doesnt really seem to match anything else in this theme IMO.

I've tried a couple, and they all FC'd on me too. Seems like ESE81 is missing some files to get the 3D app tray working. :(

I'll see if I can get to it tonight. Do you mean the NexTheme'd market (that says HTC on it) or the stock Droid market icon?
 
Final version is up. Only difference from beta is the themed default launcher. It also now has 5 screens.

I also changed the updater script a little. If you were using HelixLauncher, there's nothing new for you here :p

do i have to root first since it is a complete update.zip package? i am nonrooted ESE81. does this include wifi tether? do i understand correctly that i also need to install whatever kernel i choose and after i will be able to toggle between clock speeds with setCPU.

This is an unsigned update. You have to have a custom recovery to flash it.

so the best way to do this would be to put 2.0.1 on it. root it. install SPRecovery. then load your ROM.
 
I don't think so. If you want to install with ROM manager, just put it on the root of your sdcard, boot into recovery with Rom manager, then use install .zip to install this. No need to rename the file.

just installed it, very fast, but there are some things i didnt quite like, i didnt like the new market app image and the 3d app drawer is gone, maybe for bug reasons i don't know, and i cant seem to find the default nexus one wall paper that was in your last rom? maybe because this is beta? also could you add multitouch to the broswer? god i know this is a lot of complaints and requests but i guess you can just say its all ideas?..

but you know, thats just my opinion, not meant to offend you, the work you have done here is top notch

You don't need to go back down to 2.0.1. As long as you have SPRecovery, you can install this ROM. Hope that makes sense.

Oh yeah, as for the 3D launcher and NexusMod live wallpapers, there're some mods that need to be made to the (framework?) to allow them to run. The ESE81 base doesn't support them by default.
 
Fab, this is the ish. i am super siked about trying everything out today. i got no sleep last night starting from scratch, never having rooted anything. it was really fun. thanks

So far, this looks to be one of the smoothest running, but definitely the most aesthetically pleasing ROMs I have seen yet.

Outstanding job, simply outstanding.

Big ups to sniffle at Alldroid for porting this over to ESE81. Download the following file:

LiveWallpapers-Nexus.apk

Rename to LiveWallpapers.apk and slap it on your sdcard, then in terminal:

Fab, is there anything you can recommend for getting my wifi tether to work? i can see the network, i can join with WEP and great signal strength. i just cannot connect to internet. anything i might be missing? i have never installed any other ROM than this so i have never had wifi tether. When i go to network and sharing center (Vista) it says im connected to phone SSID but not to internet. should it show internet as active. also it says local only when i hover my cursor over the wifi network symbol in the system tray. TIA
