Root [One Click][Updated]LG Spectrum All in One Pkg for Root, CWM Touch Recovery, and Unroot

I'm not the person to ask, and unfortunately this is the VERY outdated CWM thread. You might ask that on one of the "bootloader pwned" threads to get help from someone that knows what they are doing.

^Or That.

So it seems as though, if I want to start completely over from a rooted V7 OTA, I have to flash the V6 cab, retake the V7 OTA, then reroot. Correct?

So I should flash this and be ok to reroot
7.15 (ICS) - http://csmg.lgmobile...5.P58014.R5.cab

Sorry Neph, Phoenix, Finndo and others for the redundancy and thanxs for the patience. I probably should have waited until I could afford to buy a new phone if I screw up and then I wouldnt be so paranoid. But, hey, the risk and danger is 80% of the fun!!!!!

Nevermind. All is good now. getting ready to unlock... I'm SCAARED!!!:(

A new link to download! I have lg optimus l5 e610 v. I tried many times to root from other programms but nothing. Will this work for ky device??

Probably not. If you try this on your phone, you will most likely end up with a brick.

Apologies for asking this again. Is there a utility / method which allows rooting AND unrooting the stock ICS like we had for GB?

No, you don't want to add CWM just yet anyhow. It will brick the device, the debs are working on a fix for the locked boot loader. Death is writing the script now, it should be ready for use in a few days. Check the main Page though. I posted a thread with a link to at least get you rooted.

So I take it this is the best forum to watch for rooting our LG spectrum with the ICS update we received this fall?

NO!

Do not use this with ICS! Never.

I cannot stress this enough: Any attempt to install CWM on the ICS OTA will *BRICK YOUR DEVICE*!!!

DO NOT USE IT.

(was too much?)

Neph and D2A are working on a unlock for the OTA ICS right now. They will have it by the end of the weekend no doubt, and from there we can start thinking about CWM. Until then...just don't. Please...

Root for the OTA ICS can be found here:

I pushed the ICS update through my computer (and the LG software updater). Is that the same thing as an OTA update, meaning I still cannot use this AIO to root?

If its the official ICS, then you need to use the OTA ICS root or the bootloader pwnage tool.

Please disregard. I used Playful God's AIO and I'm rooted on ICS now (http://androidforums.com/spectrum-all-things-root/637556-root-lg-spectrum-ics-ota.html)--thanks for the link!

Also, can anyone confirm that CWM should NOT run on ICS? I was trying to backup my current settings, but SU kept failing...

CWM does not workwith the locked ICS bootloader. The pwnage tool loads an unlocked bootloader and installs CWM. The downside is that bluetooth does not yet work on the unlocked bootloader.

Can some tell me how to unlock lg spectrum so that i can use any cdma sim in india
Sim cards are generally GSM, not CDMA and Verizon has not flipped the switch to make this a world phone yet. It may be something that happens once we get CM9 working, but that's still up in the air.

If you do manage to get one of the few CDMA sim cards in India(which doesn't make sense as they'd most likely program the NV for that), then you'd have to get Verizon to give you the SIM unlock code. Long story short, if you're going to India, you'll probably be getting your NV programed like they do for putting a phone on Cricket here, but I would see what the local providers there have to say.

I know this is an older thread, but can anyone help me?? Long story short, my old Droid X died, I bought an Iphone, realized my mistake and traded it immediately for a LG Spectrum, rooted it with androidforums.com/spectrum-all-things-root/637556-root-lg-spectrum-ics-ota.html, got setcup and set to conservative, froze bloatware, and fell victim to bootloop when some verizon prompt rebooted at work. Verizon made good on the phone due to the circumstances that it would not factory reset and I had a really nice worker helping me.

Now that I have a new cleaner phone that is essentially stock, I wish to root it easily/one click as I'm still a beginner. All I really want to do is change the default font, speed things up a bit, conserve battery life as much as possible, get free wifi hotspot via my data plan as I'm still unlimited, and be able to unroot just as easily/one click in case I need to deal with Verizon with warranty situations.

I really have no desire to change the home screen, the way it runs (whatever ICS everyone seems to be interested in is not of any concern to me), boot screens, lock screens, or anything else. I just want to make sure I can get a complete root and unroot process and not the partials or missing parts people seem to be getting. I will need a specific list of what to do, how to do it, and where to find everything (just keep it stupid simple please). Also, I'm new to this and this is my first post/reply, I don't know if you can email me or if I have to just check back here later, if someone can fill me it I would really appreciate it!

Thank you in advance for anyone who reads this and for those who can help me!

To be honest, I can't say that I've ever used the tool from this thread. I've always used the pwnage tool (see
this thread)

Using that tool will unlock your bootloader as you can't boot anything besides a completely stock setup with the locked bootload and install ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM). It will also install root. Just download the .exe and run it. It should place files in the C:\ drive. There's a batch file in there, I believe it's called "Runme.bat" or something. It will prompt you the whole way. Just tell it to root. Then run it again and tell it to unlock and that you're already rooted. You'll need the normal usb drivers from here unser software update.

Now. That all said, there are tools like titanium backup that you can use to tweak settings on stock with root. However, there not a whole lot of use that you'll get out of them and eventually you'll want to flash something else. Plain and simple. I'd stick to my recommendation on your other thread here

Unlock, Root, Install Titanium Backup. Backup all your apps/data. Factory Reset and install a fresh rom, like CM. For a more stock feel you could use azoller's roms. I believe he still may use a stock base for one of them. After you install a rom use titanium backup to restore all your old data/apps.

To install a rom: Once you've ran the pwnage tool to root and unlock, download a rom and gapps. Move them to your sdcard.
Open Command prompt and change directory to whatever directory the pwnage tool installed adb.exe to. 'cd c:\pwnage" if it's in c:\pwnage for example. Then issue 'adb reboot recovery'. This should reboot you into CWM recovery. From there you can do a factory reset and install zips. I believe it's "Install zip from sdcard" then "Choose zip". Install the CM zip, then install gapps.

Really, this is what I would do. If you want to tweak stock, that's up to you. However, either way you're going to have to cab flash as per my other reply to truly return to stock. Which will always wipe your phone anyway.
