Root [International] Can't Root My S3 I9300

I just bought a new S3 GT-I9300. And I'm a noob in this.

The problem is I can't root my phone. I followed the steps from here - AndroidNZ: [At Your Own Risk] How to Root your INTERNATIONAL Samsung Galaxy S III, and how to return it to stock if necessary! [Updated 08/06/2012 with new, easier Root method!] and then I stuck on step 8 and above.

Whenever I press the 3 button (VolumeDown + Home + Power), I ended up in the android system recovery <3e> screen (with the little green android guy and exclamation mark on it). Then, when I connect the usb cable, it said 'usb not recognized'. And, nothing was detected on Odin.

I don't know what to do anymore. Please help.

p/s: And I already installed Kies in my comp with USB debugging enabled in my S3.

Welcome to the forum.

It might be worth rebooting your pc to ensure that there are no kies processes running in the background. I'd also try a different usb port/cable if possible.

Recovery is VolumeUP + Home + Power. Are you sure you are pressing Volume down correctly and not somehoe breaching over halfway to hit UP instead?

TQ.. I already stop all the Kies processes in the Task Manager. Also, try all my USB port. Nothing.

Yup, I'm sure it's the VolumeDown button because I tried this several time already. If I pressed the VolumeUp + Home + POwer button, it'll ended up with the test screen.

Where did you get it? Sure its not something like an engineering version? I've seen HTC desires leaked onto the market that were engineering versions, had different recoveries etc

Just bought it few days ago. The man from the shop said it was made from Singapore. I don't know. But, it did seems like some of the functions are difference from the original S3.

Like NFC. I don't have the NFC option (enable/disable). I just have the WiFi Direct option.
