I love my son but...

after watching him just drop my one X to it's death I'm having to stay out of his way for a little while.

Can't believe that a 3ft drop onto carpet has totally smashed the screen. Phoned HTC who told me that I could send it to them and they will give me a quote, if I don't choose to have the work done I have to pay

If my daughter dropped my One X today i'd be mad also. That'll be the biggest reason why I'd go get a Nexus 4.

Sorry to hear that, hope you get it fixed soon.
Had some "drop tests" myself a month ago and dropped it on the carpet from my ear and next day dropped it on the floor, but fortunately only the case got "bent" [actually the plastic compresses under pressure]... i'm still going to have the case replaced, scratched it very badly ...and now the falls... i am really surprised with the build quality and resistance !

Cheers razvan, I've just bought my contract out, cheaper than getting it fixed so I get to order a new handset, going for the One X+ when it comes out in a couple of weeks.

RIP old friend.

bloody hell,

Thats it im looking into insurance at lunchtime today! :)And i am no longer letting my son touch my one X!

How long did you have left on your contract?

dropped mine from about 3' onto a concrete floor yesterday - landed on its back and not a mark on it. Started using it bare a few weeks ago as all the cases I've got for it make it feel too bulky. Not sure whether to start using one again or not

Just to make you feel better - dropped mine from the table onto a hard vinyl floor last week, not a scratch. It was in a case though :)

I dropped my 1st HOX a couple of times, nothing major but had a case and screen protector, the phone still looked 'out of the box' - Sorry to rub it in!!

Will you be selling that broken HOX then? First Dibs?

I think the way it landed just put too much pressure on the corner and cracked it from there, you can see in the photo where it hit... I've dropped it before myself and wasn't a mark on it but may have weakened it.

I got put in contact with someone (who actually works for apple!) and he said he can fix it for

The One X is slippery. I have a few dings from doing yard work while listening to music. I still won't wear a case. Just a screen protector.

i dropped mine down a flight of metal stairs onto a concrete floor the other night at work. not a single thing wrong with it. thank you, otterbox defender series!

Works perfectly, not even a loss of sensitivity where it is cracked, the glass near the corner feels like it's about to crumble though.

Is it really that expensive to get a replacement screen in your country ? In RO a new original HOX digitizer+LCD is about 56E and is really simple to replace...

after watching videos on youtube I wouldn't dare try myself. It is that expensive if you go through HTC UK or T-Mobile.. Everything is really expensive in Britain, so it doesn't surprise me you can get it cheaper.

My sister got a One X about 2 weeks ago. Within 1 week her 1 year old daughter had broken the screen. She is also finding out that insurance if definitely worth it. It cost her $167 to get the screen fixed.

Dropped mine whilst drunk last night watching a band and it fell from waist height onto concrete, the screen is completely smashed to pieces, phone still works perfectly but can't really see a lot cause of the cracks.

I had a case on mine but obviously wasn't a great case, didn't really protect the glass just made it less slippery on the back.

Luckily I get insurance through my bank account for some reason so only costing me

Dropped mine form a height of about four feet on to a vinyl floor (narrowly missing the toilet). The bottom edge of the screen had actually popped out of the case by about 1mm, but no other visible damage.
I shut my eyes, gritted my teeth and pushed it back in. Went click, still seems fine two months on.....

This guy I got put in touch with, he works for Apple but does other repairs in his own time... asked me the model number of the phone, called me the next day and had it fixed within a couple of hours... charged me
