Root System update?

Has anyone else gotten the 'system update' notification?

Anyone know what it is supposed to add? Android version stayed the same (roommate did it without telling me she had gotten it first)

Could this provide the stock recovery IMG that is needed? Does it stay cached after the install?

(She is/was not rooted so I'm not sure I could have captured it even if I had been there to tell her not to accept it)

Someone who is rooted, try to check for a system update... if there is one, accept it and pull the battery before it starts to install and see if you can capture it from the cache partition

1. Download android 4.0.4 source
2. download samsung update source
3. overwrite modules (folders) with the ones included in samsung's zip
4. [assuming you have your build environment already set up] do "make update-api" and "make -j4 PRODUCT-generic-user"
4. Run in emulator?

quick question could i use the ics packet i got from the open sorce and restore my phone? because its realllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad....

Short answer: not unless you've built a stock rom from source and have some way to flash OTHER than CWM (which is broken at the moment), IE: ODIN, but you must figure out how this phone is partitioned..

thank you for the reply. i have already replaced the phone with a galaxy nexus and ill just wait for a cm10 build to become available.

sorry for off topic.

you ever get the system upgrade after pulling the battery and turning it back on? stays before your homescreen, for about 10 seconds - its not an update :)

more like a system rebuild im guessing, dalvik cache maybe.
