Root [Verizon] Restoring Apps After Rom Upgrade

Synergy Rom has a new upgrade as of this morning. However, even though I back and restore all my apps I find I end up having to go through a lot of set up of some apps all over again every time I update.

One thing I don't have is a bunch of time, especially since I when I first started rooting and installing ROMs a few weeks ago I was quite sick and I actually only started on the mend since Monday of this week. Ya I had a very nasty virus. I have a bunch of work time lost that I've got to be busy making up. Not not on re-setting up a bunch of apps. I have my phone set up as critical tool for my business.

Anyway is there a something I may be missing about restoring apps. When I restore I do restore both the APPS with the System Data as I understand its safe to do so when you are not completely changing to a different ROM.

Could you be a little more specific about the apps you have to do the setup for? Also, how are you backing up your apps? Are you using Titanium Backup, or some other method?

I am using Titanium Backup...I apologize I thought that I had included that above. As for the apps there are simply too many to many to name them all.

However, using Titanium Backup shouldn't I just be able to restore all the apps and their system data and have no need to set any up, regardless the app.

Most of my apps don't require additional setup once I've restored them with TB. By the way, I always restore the apps only first. Then I go back and restore data only, selecting just the apps that I specifically want data on. That includes Swiftkey, Dropbox, Kindle, etc. I don't know why but every so often after a flash I still have to set up some of those apps.

One thing that I have seen mentioned on xda is that different versions of some apps can get messed up when restoring. I think this is especially true if you are flashing from one Android OS to another, e.g. ICS to JB.

Also, how recent was your backup before flashing? I always run "backup new user+system apps and newer versions" right before a flash. I'm just wondering, if your backup was not current maybe that caused some of the settings problems.

I'm sorry I can't be more help. I'm no expert; I just spend a lot of time on the forums trying to learn everything I can.

I always restore only user apps and user data because restoring system apps and/or system data with TiBU usually causes problems and is never recommended. Custom ROMs change bases a lot with updates and it definitely won't work with system apps if you're going from odex to deodex or vice versa. So I would just stick to user apps.
