Controlling Dropbox

Lembasts

Newbie
Greetings,
I need to be able to do these two things.
Store all the data that dropbox downloads on the external SD card.
Control which folders are synced.
I use dropbox for my PCs and have huge amounts of data I dont want on the phone.
Is this possible?
Thanks

David

Dropbox doesn't work the same on android as it does on a computer.

On a computer, you give it a folder and that folder remains sync'd.

On android, everything is online only. The app browses your actual online storage. It's not cached locally. You have to click to open which downloads and opens or export > save to sd, which allows you to save it where you want

The official app does as SUroot says, but there are a few apps on the Play store that look like they do want your require, have a quick search (for dropbox sync) and see what fits the bill.

Be sure to report back what worked for you :)

my understanding is that the files you "favorite" are also kept on your device. I don't know where they are stored though. I have several files that I access while on an airplane. All the files that I selected "favorite" stay sync'ed.

tjreishus is correct! I never realised this was possible.

It works fine as just tried it, though I can't see a way of selecting a folder, just files seem to be able to be favourited.

EDIT: Two way syncing works as well, ie edit a favourited file offline and it syncs back to the online storage when you go back online.

Yes also verified /sdcard/Android/data/com.dropbox.android/files/scratch/<folder structure of favourites>

Thanks everyone.
As you've kindly explained you can mark it as favourite and it downloads and stores it in your SD card by default. The only downside is that you cannot select a folder and favourite it.
